Hello folks and thank you in advance for your time. I currently attend a community college and am transferring in the spring'13 semester. I am very interested in attending a CUNY and have applied to York, City, Hunter and Baruch. My GPA is a 3.55 but unfortunately I have a lot of F's on my transcript due to a troubled couple of semesters. I know CUNY takes a cumulative approach to GPA's and including all the F's, my GPA drops to ~2.6. I plan on sending my SAT scores from 5 years ago (1700). I was wondering if I have a shot of getting into any CUNY at all and if they will notice the fact that I managed to get straight A's for 4 semesters? From what I've read it seems they don't look that closely at transcripts and take a totally quantitative approach. Is there anything I can do to increase my chances, such as an interview? or will that not affect my standing at all? In addition, are there any private institutions I can apply to in the NYC-metro area?

Once again thank you all for your time and commentary.
