Is there anyone here that has received a disbursement check from a CUNY School? Can somebody pleaseee tell me the process of getting the check and how long it should take. It is the end of the semester and I have YET to receive my TAP check. I registered late and they claimed that I just got certified in April. Anyone having a problem receiving their check?

Why don’t you call financial aid office and find out? You will receive the most accurate answer directly from the source.

Given that you registered late, your circumstances are different from other people and therefor the timeline of receiving a check is different too.

Trust me, the people that work in the financial aid office are of absolutely NO help.

I trust you :).

Probably the reason why you don’t get a straight answer is because you probably talk to some student working part time. If you do not get a straight answer, go up the chain until you get one (ask to talk to a supervisor).

P.S. A little unsolicited advice: Be polite! (Even if you are frustrated).

What exactly are they saying? I don’t know CUNY policies but some, or maybe all, of the SUNY schools will not refund TAP until they actually receive the funds from HESC. You can call HESC ([NYS Higher Education Services Corporation - We Help People Pay for College](http://www.hesc.org)) and they can tell you whether they have distributed you TAP funds to your school. If there’s an actual credit on your account it may be the bursar’s office, not FA, that can give you an anticipated payment date.

Our experience was with CUNY Brooklyn.

We never got a financial aid award letter. When we called on the phone, whomever answered seemed to think that was the craziest thing they ever heard of.

The only way we got any answers at all was to actually go down to the financial aid office, and have them read the amounts off of the computer.

As far as checks - we received disbursements during the semester that they were for - and they were spread out over the course of the semester.

If you got certified late, then I can imagine that the check will take a while to be disbursed.

I have been speaking to the TAP officer at the bursar’s office. All he says is that after I’m certified, they have up to 45 days to send out the check. I’m just wondering how long certification takes -__-. All they’re doing is checking that I’m full time, the courses that I take pertain to my major and I have a good academic standing.

They have the leverage. They are the only ones who can release that check so any dialogue has to be with them to find out when they will be doing so. Nothing we say is going to matter.
