Daughter has applied to transfer within CUNY for fall. In the application under transcript it states that for high school it was “desired” and status is “in progress”. Does this mean that it was requested by CUNY or that she actually has to go to her high school and obtain it? Thank you to anyone with helpful information!
I think you should call or email cuny and ask them @tillyg
I emailed them but haven’t received an answer yet.
@tillyg I also applied as a transfer and was informed that it is my responsibility to have my high school mail them an official copy of my transcript. I had them mail it on 12/18 and as of today it is still showing as “desired” and “in progress.” I emailed them to follow up, but was told when I apply that it can take up to 4 weeks to process supporting documents.
@AdrianTK thank you for confirming. As I looked into it further, I did read that a paper transcript is required from the hs so my daughter went to speak with the hs today. I also remember reading in here that it does take a while for CUNY portal to update on received documents. Good luck to you on your transfer!
@tillyg thank you! Best of luck to your daughter as well
If I’m transferring CUNY to CUNY (Hunter → Brooklyn), do I personally need to send in my Hunter transcript, or will Brooklyn take it from Hunter directly?
@jalabola you don’t need to send It. Brooklyn will get it from Hunter.
@tillyg Thank you
Hi, I have two more questions. I don’t understand how the transfer process works. I am currently a student at Hunter and I sent Brooklyn an application to transfer to them. So when the time comes around, if I get accepted, do I just go to Brooklyn and sign up for classes without telling Hunter anything? Do I just never return there and not inform them that I transferred?
My second question is, do my Hunter credits count towards a Brooklyn GPA? Because I read that some colleges accept the credits but don’t calculate them into the GPA.
Thank you in advance!
@jalabola I am assuming if you get accepted you have to send them your commitment response and I’m guessing then it will be in the CUNY system that you will be enrolled at Brooklyn College from Fall 2019.
The credits will definitely transfer over but the GPA once at Brooklyn will be based only on Brooklyn courses from then on.
@tillyg so my overall GPA won’t count in the classes that I am currently taking? That sucks, I worked so hard to get a 4.0 ? It won’t count anywhere? Even the science courses in my major gpa?
@jalabola it will be on your transcript and it will definitely count for your transfer acceptance to Brooklyn! Great GPA by the way!!! Congratulations! I’m sure you can continue on this path!
Are you only able to be accepted to one college? Or will we recieve a decision from every program we chose and possibly have a chance to pick between them? I’m currently a sophomore at a LAC and want to transfer to a CUNY for financial reasons.
@screenie3 I think we will only hear back from one college. I found this on CUNY’s website regarding transfer applicants: “You must list your college choices in order of preference, as you will only hear back from one college choice.”
@screenie3 Yes, you’ll get a reaponse from only one college.
@tillyg @AdrianTK thanks! I put baruch/hunter/queens. Is it a good idea to get a recommendation letter?
@screenie3 I think it’s a good idea. My daughter sure did. Baruch also encourages prospective students to write a personal essay.
