CUNY Honors College

Is it because of her SAT score?
Becaue I have similar stats -
Can you chance me to Hunter?
I have a 1490/2240 (800M, 690R, 750W)
But my GPA is a 90/91 UW
But I took all honors classes throughout highschool.
People keep saying I'll get in...but I don't know - I'm not too sure.

your stats aren't similar. theyre way better. you'll probably get in. my sat score was just ten points higher than yours..it was good enough.

Hey. Biggyboy, are you basing your chancings on SAT scores more than GPA? Because my GPA is significantly lower than most people who came here for chances, but my SAT is significantly higher. And you told me that I have a really good chance and you told them not really.
But it does make me feel better. So thanks!
I EDed to Hunter.
And my extracurrics are good. I think. Hopefully.
two weeks two weeks.

yeah that was my gpa unweighted also, about 91. we pretty much are the same candidate lol. so yeah good luck. you should definitely be able to get in especially through ED.

Hey. Thanks. You're really making feel better about myself and the application. Actually, I don't even want to start other apps (I will though, obv).
They mail (snail mail) the decisions out on the 14th, a Friday. I'll get it on the 18th, a Tuesday. Crossing my fingers. Hopefully.
Goodluck to anyone else out there...
Although considering the number of visitors to the forum...

hmm..if you live in nyc you should be able to get it on saturday or by monday the latest. but it makes me wonder how 'binding' ed really is for cuny honors..what power do they have to stop you from go through with other offers?

Long Island. Hm. They sent a viewbook to my house - it was postmarked the 29th. A Thursday. And I received it on Monday. That's why I'm thinking I'll get it on Tuesday if they mail it Friday.
Although, how did you get it? Was there any sign of DHL, FedEx or something? Because apparently Columbia does that. Or is it just regular mail?
How binding is it? I don't care! If I get in, I'm totally going! I'm not even going to think about anything else!

lol from what i recall they sent me a tiny letter envelope which is why i thought it was a rejection initially. but lo! i was admitted. no signing of any kind involved. i didn't apply early and this was in march of 2006. things may have changed.

I'm not sure where else to ask this since Hunter doesn't have a thread (not one that I can find anyway), but I was wondering how safe the area around Hunter is. Can anyone help me out?

Well, I've visited. It's on 68th & Lex. Meaning it's in the Upper East Side. This is arguably the most affluent area in Manhattan.
While I don't know the actual crime rate on campus or anything, the surrounding areas are relatively harmless.

it's in a safe area, but the school itself does not look like it belongs there. it just doesn't go with the overall architecture and appearance of the neighborhood. but yeah, upper east side means anyone who lives there has a lot more money than the average joe.

Just got the letter of acceptance to the Macaulay honors college! Did anyone else get it yet?

I just got accepted ed to Macaulay honors @ Baruch! I had 92 GPA, 1270/1930 SAT scores with no SAT IIs or ACT. I had all honors/ap/college lvl classes though, and I go to a chinese high school (although I am not chinese) so I guess that gave me a better shot. thought this might be helpful for people who are applying rd...

Hey, congrats man. What essays did u pick?

Hey! Accepted. Good luck RDers!
PM me for any questions...or just post on this thread.
I've stalked the program - especially at Hunter, so any questions - just ask.
Well. It's sort of late because everyone applied already. But yeah.
Woohoo! MHC '12!

It's a great deal, but everyone I know in the program hates it and is miserable.

you really cant generalize the entire program considering that in encompasses 7 colleges. 95% of the people i know love it, but then again people who arent in honors like it there too (really depends on the actual college). you will always have people who want to leave and go to different places, no matter what school you attend.

I didn't get my letter yett =\ I feel like im the only one that didnt. Even my friends that live in my neighborhood got it

Hey! Nooo. Don't say people hate it.
I mean. At least for Hunter -
How can you hate being in the city? I mean, I don't know much about the classes or anything. But still. It's the city. And you can do anything. That's what makes it so great!

And collegebound - don't freak. I didn't get mine until today - Monday. And I was freaking out. I think it depends on which college you chose. Because the people from CSI and/or Baruch got it on Saturday.

I got my acceptance letter yesterday (Monday) !!! Macaulay Honors @ The City College!!! I'm so excited!

I know tons of people that love it and recommend it, it's such a great deal!

I don't know anyone else at City...Baruch 2012 even has a facebook group!
