CUNY Honors College

For me it's between CUNY Honors and SUNY Buffalo. My first choice is actually Colorado State but that's much too expensive. So really it's just between the other 2.

Um.
Guys?
MHC (CUNY Honors) is wayyyyy better than any SUNY. For sure. Well. I'm definitely sure about the ones at Hunter, Baruch, and Brooklyn. I know those programs and I know for a fact that they are much better than SUNYs. So...
Really. If you get into MHC, it's a no-brainer (for me at least).

I highly respect Queens college in terms of academics but the reason I didn't finish the CUNY honors application is because you're not with other CUNY honors students--you're with everyone else. I could just apply for normal CUNY if I wanted that. And, there's no dorms there. I think the whole full tuition thing is nice. But, the thing about it is that the CUNY price is so cheap that it really doesn't make much of an impact I guess.

But that's me.

Actually, your not with everyone else. There are many classes that are specifically for honors students, and are instructed by the best professors available. Also, Macaulay students get priority registration, so you can hand pick any class you want (if you feel more comfortable with a certain prof. for example, or if you have friends in that class or w/e. ) Also, even though cunys are cheap, having NO tuition to pay is awesome.
And collegedreamer08 is right. MHC is far superior to any SUNY.

Who gets to live on the new dorms for MHC students? Is it available to everyone, what if you attend Queens or Brooklyn College?

Also, are there dorms for City College honors students (not MHC) or for students in the Sophie Davis program?

dwincho - I was under the impression that the dorms are only for Hunter college students. Though in dire circumstances, maybe they could make an exception.

And does anybody know how MHC Hunter would look when applying to medical schools? For me, the decision is going to come down to CUNY Honors at Hunter, vs. SUNY Binghamton. But this is if I get into MHC at Hunter.

I already got into regular Hunter, though that's a super safety for me.

MHC has sent many to Law and Med schools. Again, it looks far better than any SUNY. I'm actually planning on going to Med school too, so this was very important for me. Good luck with Hunter. :)

crackednugget - What year are you currently in? How is the dorming? Any information you could provide about MHC would be splendid.

My bad crackednugget, I just looked at your other posts are realized you will be a freshman in fall of '08, at CSI, not Hunter.

Anyone currently go to MHS at Hunter, and have any feedback about the program?

Hey Can u tell me your stats that got u accepted?.. Im highly interested

"My bad crackednugget"- what is that supposed to mean? Yes, I was accepted for the class of '12 at CSI. I never said I'm going to Hunter..
Mariela, the criteria for MHC students is high SATs, very good grades, awesome recs, good ECs, and good essays. I have all of these, and did well on the interview.. It's important that they see something special about u. After all, they need to make themselves look good. If you have any specific questions about Macaulay IM me.

crackednugget - Because originally I thought you were CURRENTLY going to HUNTER. Not that you got into CSI. So I can't ask you about Hunter, when you wouldn't know anyway. Hence "my bad", it was my fault.

And what interview?

Oh, ok--I misunderstood.
some campuses actually require an interview..(Which they schedule for strong applicants after reading the applications) CSI is one of them, I'm not sure about any other ones. I think it's actually pretty cool because the interview is conducted by the people who make the final decision. :)

I'm scared that I haven't heard about an interview yet.
Do all accepted students get called for an interview?!?!?!

not from hunter.

Provided that I have a 94 gpa and a 1450ish/1600 and a 2150ish/2400, along with clubs, etc., would taking classes at Hunter and getting As make MHC Hunter an almost sure thing?

No..The valedictorian at my school, who has a 99.x gpa and 2100ish SATs with good EC (not just clubs-he's very involved) was deferred from MHC at Hunter ED.. I don't think you understand- It's competitive, definitely not a sure thing for anyone.
Good luck tho!

Could anyone chance me:
96 Weighted GPA.
Ranked 62 out of 500ish students. Top 12%.
1270/1600 / 1870/2400 SAT
29 ACT
660 M Level I SAT II
610 Chem. SAT II
Strong ec's, recommendations, and an awesome essay.

I've already been accepted into: UAlbany, Binghamton and Stony Brook.

Is CUNY Hunter Honors looking like a good possibility?

Perfected, just a few questions so I can give you a better answer..
Were you born here? Or are you an immigrant, and if you are, how long have you been living here for?
What are u looking to major in, and what kind of ECs have you done that correspond to that field?
What's your unweighted GPA?
Are you in a public or private school?
Where do you live at the moment?

is there a separate application for the honors college? i just started my cuny app a few days ago and im interested mainly in the city college honors program. doing the cuny app, it didnt ask for sat scores at all. why?
