Cuny Honors

Does anyone know exactly how hard it is to get into CUNY Honors. For example getting into CUNY Honors is equivalent to getting into ....

I attend S.I. Tech have a 3.8 gpa around 1950 sat and over the summer will be working at Citigrop as an intern, I've been on 3 major sports teams and 2 clubs, I have also done quite a bit of community service. Ap courses include Bio and Physics

Do you think I have a shot at CUNY Honors?

HOw does your score break out in terms of math/verbal

I think your SAT scores are a little low. Keep in mind that CUNY honors is a very competitive and numbers driven process (we are talking free tuition/ laptops and a host of other perks so there is not shortage of applicants). A student with a similar GAP and higher scores will knock you out of the box

Another Staten Islander! How cool.

Your stats are excellent, but I don't think they're in the ballpark for CUNY Honors. You could have a shot if you are an URM, though. What other schools are you looking at?

URM status does not matter as much as being a first gen or low income the first part of the process is computerized where they are cut off numbers

I'm also looking at University of Miami or Rutgers, do I stand a better chance with these schools? What SAT Score is more accptable for CUNY Honors?

My math section was a 710 and verbal 620

i had an 1890,
680 math, 620 verbal..

3.79 gpa, unweighted..

4 on ap calc, 2 on ap english..

I'm Indian, not a URM..

i visited CUNY honors twice before I applied..

i applied to 8 schools:
uconn, cuny honors, BC, NYU, cornell, columbia, brown, and tufts..

i was rejected by the last 4, and accepted to the first four..

uconn gave me their honors program, and day of pride scholarship (all i have to pay for is books)

cuny honors gave me an extra $5000 to help cover my living expenses..

i ended up choosing CUNY, its really an awesome program...id suggest go visiting..its still a very new program, and so there isn't too much information on the web..

btw, i didn't do any sports, but then again, im from a first gen. college student, and low income family..

i think you have a shot..

Does first gen college student really help alot becuase I am also a first gen college student

it might help, it certainly won't hurt, not in the least bit..

i don't remember if cuny even asked about my financial situation, i can't remember..

i visited twice, and the director at city college knew my name..when i called a few months later to ask her something, she still knew who i was..i guess being out of state and showing a good deal of interest helped..

doing that couldn't hurt..

Can u go to Cuny honors after youve been one year at the Cuny normal program?
