Thank you. Much appreciated.

my friends who go to cuny honors says that.. the cuny honors program isnt that great once you get in.

oh. ok. thanks for sharing.

A CUNY rep came to my high school yesterday...each of 7 CUNY campuses' admit 20 honors students (120-150 max)...

there are more CUNY campuses, and only 7 are participating in the honors program. and what you just said about admittance couldn't be more wrong.

Are you allowed to only apply to one CUNY school for the CUNY honors program? So for example, can you apply to cuny honors for baruch and also for hunter?

the CUNY honors programs are good options if you intend on going on to medical school, or other graduate programs, because you get a lot more opportunities than normal students, and you are recognized as the best students in the schools, the stipends and a free education are great!

However, I think if you plan on breaking into a lucrative industry like IB or Consulting, the CUNYs aren't a good fit, because there will be almost nothing in terms of recruiting. Baruch gets some finance related recruiting, but they are nothing compared to the top schools. So, in that sense it's not as good as attending a top 20-30 school, to which most of the CUNY honors students are capable of being admitted.

twilight..you can choose only one school when applying to the honors program, and are then rejected/accepted into the honors program of that school. If you are rejected from Honors and yet are accepted into the general ed. program, you have the option of transfering your acceptance to another CUNY school's gen. ed program. Some of my friends were rejected from Macaulay, but were offered admissions into a specific CUNY honors program--like Baruch Honors. They could only attend the honors program at Baruch, but could transfer to Hunter gen. ed.

hmm...so Macaulay and CUNY Honors are not the same thing?

Macaulay is an honors college that branches across a number of CUNY campuses. When you apply to a specific campus, you apply to Macaulay Honors at X College. The benefits of the program, like full tuition, the cultural passport, free laptop, etc. are for Macaulay Honors College students. There are honors programs at the schools in addition to Macaulay. Some of my friends were not accepted to Macaulay, but were accepted to the honors track at their given campus. They will not have access to all of the Macaulay perks, but they can choose to enroll in honors courses (except for the Macaulay seminars). Because of their high SATs/GPA, some of my friends were offered scholarship for the CUNY college. The difference is that they are now in the campus honors program, but not in the overarching Macaulay College. I hope that makes sense?
