CUNY to OOS, is it possible?

I'm going to be studying at Queens College (got into Macaulay Honors) and I'm looking into OOS med schools, particularly ones in Ohio, Cali, and Michigan (and certain ivys but I honestly feel like they'll see CUNY and toss my application out).

From what I've heard, public OOS prefer students from instate, while private ones don't care much. I was looking into a few public schools, like University of Michigan and Ohio State University, and some private ones like Case Western Reserve University.

If I keep up a great GPA/MCAT/ECs, will I have a shot at getting into these schools? What are my chances looking like getting into public med schools as opposed to private ones? And finally, if my chances aren't too great, should I just transfer to a more well known school instead?

I'm just worried I'm gonna spend these 4 years and get shunned because it's a CUNY school, and while I've read posts saying school doesn't matter, I've read tons that say the complete opposite as well.

Thank you so much in advance. ^_^

I don’t think you should be worrying about specific schools until you are a junior/senior. You might not even want to be a doctor after freshman year.

I know things may change, but I like planning things out ahead of time, you know? Let’s just say I was going to stick to that plan above, what then?

Why not talk to the Queens College Health Professions Advisory Services:
[QC Queens College](http://www.qc.cuny.edu/Academics/SupportPrograms/HealthProfessions/Pages/default.aspx)

They can tell you what medical schools Queens College alumni were admitted to.

OOS publics are VERY VERY difficult to get into regardless of who you are. They’ll toss your app to the side because of your residency, not your UG.
