@Russianhacker no I didn’t. Baruch said that I was exempted from taking any of the placement exams.
@Leesah991 nice, I just got exempted as well. I put in my 100$ deposit on Monday. I hope we are able to sign up for classes ASAP. I know classes get filled up quickly at Baruch.
@Leesah991 they said we will meet with advisors and sign up for classes on orientation day, which is anywhere from December to January. However, this seems too long.
@Russianhacker I know. They give the Baruch students first priority when it comes to registration. By the time we get there to register, all the good professors would be taken.
I applied for John Jay (1st Choice), City Tech, City College and Hunter in September. Has anyone who applied then receive an acceptance letter yet?
My application status finally changed to complete (calling the hotline, since my portal status is blank) around last week, does anyone know how long it’ll take to get an acceptance letter from BMCC?
I went to BMCC. It took a while for me to hear back from them but, trust me, everyone gets into BMCC. It’s also a good school for opportunities. For example, I have a lot o friends who did well BMCC and are now going to NYU and Harvard. However, you would have to earn either a 3.8, 3.9 or 4.0 GPA. Work hard and you will do great.
Good luck!
@Leesah991 Thank you! hopefully it’s not too late in November that I hear back from them though! all schools here in my country have already closed their admissions except for one which is on the 24th, and while I could take my chances and wait up until December for BMCC it’s not really ideal you know? I’ll just try to keep calm.
@ACurlyHead I was accepted to John Jay (first choice) on the 10/19. I applied late August. Pretty sure another person here was also accepted that day. They send emails.
Also, does your online app portal say a decision has been made? If so, try calling the automated phone status check system.
212-997-CUNY
It’ll give you the name of a college, and from what I’ve heard, it’s normally the college that accepted you. I can’t say 100% though, there’s no official word from CUNY.
@idonthavefish My online portal doesn’t say anything oddly, but I hope you’re right about the phone status check system because when I call that number it tells me that a decision has been made by John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and I will be hearing from them within two weeks. I didn’t want to get my hopes up that it means I’m accepted, but it’s kind of hard not to.
Two weeks feels like a year when waiting for this !
What do you plan on majoring in if you don’t mind my asking?
THANKS!
@ACurlyHead you will be accepted.
Thanks @Russianhacker ! I’ve already started planning for if I am.
Checked my portal today! It says that my application is complete and that an admission has been made. This honestly takes a big weight off of my chest.
I guess now it’s just waiting for two weeks, I can do it (Nanowrimo has me occupied daily so I guess it’s a good distraction).
@ACurlyHead I hear you, I was checking my email every fifteen minutes! I hope you hear from them soon. The phone thing is a really good sign, I haven’t heard of anyone not getting in after that.
I’m planning on majoring in fraud examination and financial forensics. What about you?
@idonthavefish yeah thats basically me now ! The email refresh button is my bestfriend.
I’m planning on Majoring in Computer Science and Information Security and minoring in Security Management.
Hi guys!!
So I applied for the spring 2018 semester back in early september for sociology to hunter, baruch, john jay and city college. along with those I also applied to binghamton, oneonta and new paltz. I got into the three state schools I applied to, and I’ve been eagerly waiting to hear back from the cunys. it says on my portal that an admissions decision has been made and Ill be hearing back from only one? Im confused as to why id be hearing back from only one when I applied to four, so I decided to call the number to check my application status, and it says I will be hearing back from hunter shortly. does that mean I got in? what does it mean for the other schools? if you guys could give me some guidance that would be great
@lanalouisee hey, so with Cuny though you apply to 4 schools, only one of them will choose you. It goes by your preference from top to bottom. If your first pick was hunter and they accepted you then you got into hunter and the other schools wouldn’t be able to admit you. If hunter rejected you then your Second choice school will have the opportunity to look at your transcript and determine if they want you or not, and so on. Also not to be a buzzkill but sociology is a worthless major. I know you might “like it” but what jobs do you plan on getting with that degree?
hey you guys, just wanted to say that i got my acceptance to BMCC today! i’m honestly relieved haha. good luck to everyone else waiting!
Hey has anyone received an orientation invitation from Baruch College?
@leesah991 I didn’t receive it yet. I emailed them and they told me that they will start sending out invitations by this week.
