CUNY transfer admissions

I read a flier somewhere online about the CUNY transfer admissions that transfer applicants can only be accepted by one of the colleges of their choice. Once selected by one CUNY, the others won't review the application.

I'm in Queensborough CC and I am graduating with an AS in Business Administration after this semester and plan on going to a 4-year this Fall 2010 with 3.3 GPA and 60 credits. I only applied to:
1. Baruch College
2. Queens College

CUNY is suppose to send out their acceptance letters beginning April 1st, but I already got an acceptance letter from Queens College about two weeks before the first day of April. I just want to clarify if it's true that CUNY transfers are only accepted to only one college from their choices as well as my chances of getting into Baruch.

I am also a transfer student and applied Baruch only, but I still don’t have any news from them =[

You should call Queens or Baruch admissions and ask them the same question you asked us :-)

Definitely call them! I didn’t hear this before applying and would like to know the answer.

I applied to Hunter and Brooklyn (but really only want to go to Hunter.)

so pinkyswore, u are still waiting for the result from CUNY?

Yes, I submitted my app after the priority deadline so I don’t expect to hear anything for another 4 weeks or so.

I called the the CUNY hotline and they say it’s true. Applications are reviewed in your choice orders until one of them accepts you. The rest won’t review it after an acceptance. In my case, Baruch as my first choice rejected me so my second, Queens, accepted me. Hunter, as my third choice, won’t review the application. I pretty much have no choice but to go to Queens College. I wanted to go to Baruch. Would anyone suggest other alternatives?

Hoping someone can give me some advice; I applied to hunter as my first choice then city college for my second choice, as a transfer student from the university of Pittsburgh, however my GPA is 2.4 with 85 total credits…what are my chances of getting in? I called the hotline and it says a decision has been made and I will be notified within two weeks but I haven’t received anything as of yet.

CUNY’s system is horrible point blank. Thats why I hate it so much, I can’t wait to leave.

@whiteyoshi-Have you thought about doing a gap year or a gap semester?

@mander1220-I can’t make the decision for you because you never know. But I will tell you that I have applied to Hunter as a freshman w/ a 3.5 gpa, lots of ECS and mediocre SAT scores and did not get accepted. Also according to their website the average transfer gpa is 3.07 and the average amount of credits earned is 70.3. I hope this helps.

I didn’t get accepted to Hunter or city college, sent me an email suggesting that I go to community college then transfer but I have 85 total credits which makes no sense to me, I resubmitted my application and put two different school choices with the average transfer gpa at or around 2.4; John Jay and Medgar Evers College. Hoping I will get a decision quicker because they already have my supporting documents in their system.

I applied to CUNY, my first choice is Baruch and second is Hunter. I submitted my app for the February 1st deadline, shouldn’t I have heard back by now???

has anyone heard back yet? i have not heard one word from baruch yet

I got accepted into Baruch around early May.
