I got my acceptance by mail. My test date is in April.
I am so happy
That’s strange, I emailed the transfer center regarding the math placement test and they responded that I don’t have to take it.
Really!! I’ve taken a math course already and they told me I’m required to take it.
Are you required to take the Math 6 placement test? I don’t know if its because I took AP AB Calculus or the fact that I already took that placement test last year but didn’t go to a Cuny.
I emailed them if its possible to waive the placement if you’ve taken an upper division math classes. Also roundtrip tickets from California is super expensive right now and Id rather avoid it.
@warda it depends on the course. what is the name of the math class?? if it’s precalculus or calculus, for example, then you should be able to be waived from taking the test…

sorry for the waste of space…the above comment came out twice on this board…sorry
My acceptance email came in my other email. BUT I GOT ACCEPTED TO BARUCH! Also they are waiving placement tests if you have taken Pre-Calculus or Calculus.
@pennytransfer For what it’s worth, I e-mailed regarding my credits to see if I could waive the assessment test and they responded by telling me that “There are no exemptions from the CAT-Mathematics 6 Placement Test”.
I passed two pre-calc classes, but they said I still need to take it!
So that means that for those who took Pre-Calculus or Calculus, they don’t have to take ANY placement tests?
@incogneato That’s why I’m so confused right now. They’re literally giving mixed answers.
@Synchroz from what i have read and heard, that seems to be right.
oops! i stand corrected…look at this:
All students entering into Baruch College are required to take the Mathematics 6 College Level Math & Placement test. Even if you have an exemption or have already passed a mathematics skill assessment, you must still take this examination.
hmmmmm…does this mean that even though you took precalculus or calculus they still want you to take this unnecessary test?? r u kidding me?? how silly is that???
i guess this answers everybody’s questions…especially me!!
Hm I just called someone at Baruch and she said that as long as you took AP Calculus or calculus in college, you won’t have to take it… I haven’t received a testing ticket or whatever yet either…
@synchroz does that mean that if you took precalculus you have to take the test??
@baker101460 Just based on the response to my email to the transfer center and the phone call just now, it seems it’s the case that if you have previously taken a college level pre-calculus or calculus course (including APs), then you don’t have to take the placement test. I haven’t received a email about testing either, so this appears to be the case. However, I did take the placement test last year when I was still a senior in high school deciding between colleges… Perhaps that’s why I might not have to take it. The lady on the phone just told me to send in my AP score reports to Baruch and then I wouldn’t have to take the placement test because I received a 4 or higher on the AP.
ok. i thought so…
btw…don’t call CUNY tomorrow…it will be closed due to bad weather approaching the NYC area…just so you folks know…hopefully the snow amounts won’t be too bad, despite the weather reports…
CUNY will reopen tomorrow…that’s no surprise…it will be a headache for those who have to commute though…take it slow tomorrow people…
