Comments:
I'm unsure of what kind of applicants they accept due to lack of data.
Really underconfident and afraid of failure.
Edit Also, by virtue of my underconfidence, I didn't apply to any of these places when I applied to college except UCB. I applied to Mich, CMU, UCB, UIUC, Purdue and GTech as far as I remember. I got in all. My SAT I score came out after I submitted these applications.
I want to transfer because my college prohibits certain academic opportunities and certain major combinations are not feasible.
I don't know if this counts as a legit transfer reason but my parents are unhappy my college name isn't an IIT/MIT/Stanford/Harvard - something the Indian masses recognize. My parents dissatisfaction affects me dearly.

Any tips on what I can do to improve my chances? Or feedback? I've been directed to this site by a friend and he says the people here are incredibly accurate and have insane admission records. He also asked me to post with an attractive Thread title.

I doubt you will get into any of the first four. Your reasons for transferring are poor (so my tiger mom can brag to her friends) good luck.

I mean that’s one of the deepest reason I have personally. I’m definitely not going to tell the colleges that. There are a lot of other reasons I might want to transfer to these places and my essays will be based on those factors: entrepreneurship, graduate program level, professors. I acknowledge how these colleges are great, but couldn’t care less to apply unless forced. Because I was forced, I spent a lot of time making my Why X? essays.

Maybe UCB… the others I doubt it

“I want to transfer because my college prohibits certain academic opportunities and certain major combinations are not feasible.”

that is your reason right there…avoid mention of your parental pressures…

Your academic stats are very good! I have a more optimistic view than others on here for you. Don’t know how your international status will impact you but can imagine if you have 0 financial need Berkeley will take you with open arms. The state is bankrupt and anyone that has your stats that can pay full out of state rates seems in to me. Cornell seems likely to me as well…as for the top 3, odds are very slim for everyone but see MIT as the most likely between them.

No, make sure to mention it. The kids that ACTUALLY want to transfer for academic opportunities deserve the spot. Not him.

How about these places?

 1. Brown
 2. Dartmouth
 3. Penn

I also applied to these 3 colleges.

@mtguy: I think we should let the adcoms decide who deserves a spot and who doesn’t.

Are you bored? What’s the point since you’ve already applied and will know in a couple of months?

If you’re an international from India I think it is highly unlikely that you will get into any. Brown, Penn, UCB, and Cornell are the only realistic shots that I see.

Doesn’t UCB give priority to in-state students as well? Realistically you’ll have the highest chance of getting UCB out of your pool but the chances of you actually getting into UCB as an international student are slim, especially with your reason for transferring. But then again, random things always happens here in Cali. so you never know :I

You’ll be fine! Breathe. If you completed everything already, it’s out of your hands. Just make sure everything is submitted.
