I’m the guinea pig of the family since my parents are immigrants, so no one knows whats going. From the schools I listed do you guys think that these dreams are realistic and that I am competitive at these schools? Also can I put that I am a first generation college student due to the fact that my parents are immigrants and have not gone to college here.

Hi, I think you have a good chance at the colleges that you selected. I think you AP courseload is fine, but you might not want to send your AP Bio score in. To be honest, your awards don’t seem to be too “major,” but I think your chances will be fine. You are definitely competitive, but keep in mind that you need to have a strong hook. From what you have listed here, I presume Tennis will be your hook?

Also, you can not put that you are a first generation college student if your parents or someone in your immediate family went to post-secondary school (any education after high school). It doesn’t matter if they got bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees, or didn’t graduate. It also doesn’t matter where they got it. Always check with the colleges you are applying to to make sure!

Thank you so much. I’ve heard mixed stuff from my counselors about that question I asked so its good to have someone clarify.
Yes I was thinking about my hook being about tennis or being a first generation citizen.
