curious-MIT and Princeton

Hi,

I’m a senior now and want to major in engineering. Is it easier to get admission into a university that is not that great for engineering(eg: princeton) or a university that has a really good engineering school(MIT).

I’m asking this coz i’m planning to apply to one of the above. Princeton has a much lower acceptance rate compared to MIT (assuming i don’t apply ED). but at the same time a much higher proportion of applicants to MIT would want to pursue engineering so the demand for their engineering majors would perhaps be higher than for engg. at princeton. My SAT scores are in the median range for both these colleges. my counsellor told me that MIT looks for students who have wona alot of awards in science etc.( ihave won only a few). So would i have a better shot at engg. at MIT or engg. at princeton?

thanks a lot!!

Well, MIT doesn't admit based on a student's prospective major, so applying as an engineering major at MIT wouldn't put you in any different a pool than applying as a humanities major would.

I doubt that your prospective major will influence your admissions decision.
And IMHO when you're talking about incredibly competitive schools like MIT and Princeton, it isn't really possible to predict whether one is going to be easier to get into than the other.
