I saw people were checking out their chances. I'd like to major in something to do with international relations or business or journalism. Something to keep me busy for 4 years, because I want to go to Columbias grad school of journalism. Here are my stats:

SATS: 2220
GPA (as of end of junior year): 6.39583 out of 6.5
weighted GPA: 3.9358 out of 4.0
Class Rank: Top quarter, maybe top 10
APS: Statistics, 4
World History, 5
US Hist, ?
English Lang & Comp, ?
Senior year I'm taking, Environmental Science, English Literature, Calc
BC, Gov and Eco AP, Euro Hist AP
EC's: President of JUnior Achievement (2 years, business organization)
President of Book Club (3 years)
Editor in Chief of newspaper
Orchestra for 4 years
Student Council for 1 year
Cross Country JV for 2 years

I'm interested in applying to Columbia, UT Austin, Northwestern, NYU, USC, Georgetown - what are my chances?

ivycmm; you can have higher than 5.0. There have been threads on CC about a girl with a 5.7 that couldn't become valedictorian (long story). So it is possible!

oh, ok. lol, sorry for the mistake; I guess I'm just used to the 5.0 weighed scale, which my school district uses.

Anyways: now that my whole confusion with your GPA is cleared up, I'd say your test scores and stats are pretty good. Organize your EC's more coherently (maybe in order of subject?) and maybe eliminate the student council thing-- since it was only for 1 year, colleges might think that you just joined it to pad your application.

That said, I think you have a decent chance at Columbia, Georgetown and Northwestern and a higher chance at USC and NYU. I don't know too much about UT Austin; sorry.

What's your first-choice school? Maybe you could apply there early; that would increase your chances. Just a thought :)
