Holy crap, if 203 are already admitted, that means the 6100 remaining applicants are competing for the other 250 spots in the freshman class.

I know in the past W&L's retention rate allowed admission to around 1100, but will this number be lower this year since interest has increased? How low will the admissions rate be?

roughly a 13.7 admit rate for the remaining 5800 applicants, a little less if the ED excess is rolled over to the RD pool.
total admit rate 17.46 approximately.

musictoad you have a very good point, they need to either lower their yield expectations (they're competing with a whole new tier of schools this year, they're going to lose more) or go to the waiting list a lot more than usual

Not to be a pessimist but the key phrase words are "from last year." This was a competitive year in general and I would like to see other LACs admit rates before calling W&L the best. Also, how many people applied just because of the free application? I have no doubt that yield rate is going to plummet. It remains to be seen how heavily the school will have to go to the waiting list.

I also heard that this year's graduating h.s. seniors are the biggest class in ages, so admission into colleges in general was more competitive this year. Next year and years after that, however, numbers will steadily decline.

I know of one from the waitlist who's been admitted. athlete. my guess is virtually all from WL wl will be to address specific "needs" of the U.
