Current Babson Student Taking Questions

I am a current Babson student who will be starting as a Junior in the Fall. I know I had a lot of questions about the school before showing up for orientation and there were definitely some surprises as well. I figured this would be a good chance to help out anyone who was looking for a student’s perspective on the school either before applying or before arriving for orientation.

Please feel free to message me if you have any sort of private questions to ask as well!

What are my chance to get into Babson ?

Should I join like 4 or 5 clubs in my senior year (which is this year)?
Any chance to Babson? Should I try ED?

How good is their economics program?

Do they have any professors that don’t speak satisfactory English?

How good is their career services program?

What ACT/SAT score did you have to be admitted?

Do you think they’d admin someone with a 24 or 25?

I think you are very close to a fit for Babson…a little boost in your SAT scores would increase you to a good fit . Are you planning to take them again?
If you really believe Babson is your first choic ED will improve your chances. If you are not totally sure you might apply early action and that can help with the odds. Babson has a great web site with lots of information about the school and its programs. Also the campus is great and it has a very good reputation !
Hope this helps !

I am really into Babson so I will ED! I think I might able to boost SAT score to 1850 or even 1900 in Oct test. But should I join more clubs this year? Or should I continue my financial internship? Or both?

I I would not worry too much about your clubs… Concentrate on your application…your essay…recommendations …and set up a visit or interview with the Babson recruiter…I think you will get accepted to Babson ED…Not that it matter s too much but I am curious about what State you reside in? Good Luck! Babson is a great choice!

I am in GA.

I would have to agree with everything that voyager24 has said. Your application is right in the range of what Babson students have. Some extra clubs might help, but what you should really push for is some leadership positions if you can still find them. The school is gonna know that being president of a club versus member of a club makes a huge difference. Keep trying to improve your test scores for sure, there is always room for improvement there, and maybe even look into taking the ACT as well.

I would say that their economics program is above average, but of course it really lives in the shadow of the amazing economics program at Harvard.

I’ve only heard rumors of professors who don’t speak English well. In my experience the ones who complain about professors with accents are the international students who are also struggling with English as their second language. In any case, rarely would such a professor somehow make it though, and the school is very good at quickly getting rid of professors who are sub-standard.

One thing that definitely helps Babson a lot is that the students here get jobs right away. The average starting salary is in the neighborhood of $50-55k. Of course there are going to be those who don’t get the dream jobs they were hoping for, but Babson’s average is quite good compared to other schools.

My ACT score was very high so I wouldn’t be the best example to use, but I think that with your score of 24-25 you still have a respectable shot. Definitely apply and see what they offer you, and keep working to improve that score.
