Current Brandeis Student

Hey everyone! My name is Shira and I am a current student at Brandeis.

I’d be happy to answer any questions you have about Brandeis! :)

Hey Shira! My name is Tyler. I’m currently a student at Suffolk University. I’m looking to transfer next fall, and I have a lot of questions for you. :)

To give you a little more about me, I’m a freshman and a theatre major. I was extremely involved in high school with the performing arts and I wanted a school that gave me opportunities to grow in that aspect (even though I’m not too sure what I’m doing with my life). In high school I had about a 3.8 GPA and graduated with honors. Sadly, I didn’t do so hot on my SATs (520 in critical reading, 540 in math, and 560 in writing). For that reason I believe I wasn’t initially accepted to more competitive schools, like Brandeis. However, I have a 4.0 GPA right now after my first semester.

So, the biggest issues I have with my school right now is not feeling academically challenged enough and not feeling apart of a community (since Suffolk doesn’t really have a campus).

What I wanted to ask you is whether or not Brandeis has a community feel to it, and what the theatre program is like there. Secondly, I wanted to ask for your opinion on where I stand academically. I know I wasn’t accepted as an incoming freshman, but what are my chances now? My sister also went to Brandeis in 2003. I don’t know if that makes any difference aha.

Hi!
So I’m a senior in high school…and I’ve been freaking out a lot lately.
Few questions: Do you think a 3.5 (roughly an 89.6ish) could get me in? Note that I am NOT sending in my SAT scores…instead I’ll be submitting an essay and an art supplement.
I have pretty good recs, and a pretty good essay. Decent activities as well.

What do you think? Any chance? :(

Hey Shira,

I am an international student and my stats are -

3.8 GPA ,
waiting for my ACT scores (should be out by the end of the month),
lots of unique extracurriculars (both national and international),
decent community service (300+ hours)
a lot of leadership positions,
excellent teacher and counselor recs
good essays

I am thinking about apply for the ED2 program. Do you think I have a shot at getting in? Oh and I have a low EFC…do you think that might hurt my chances?

Hi Shira,

Do you know anyone who has started midyear (beginning of spring semester) instead of the fall semester? If you do, do you know what they did for their fall semester? Thanks so much :)

Josie
