so there is no actual honors classes like in high school, but just recognition for people with GPA above 3.5?

There are. But it's not solely just an honors class that doesn't count for anything else. That's what I meant. And people that aren't in honors can take those classes as well. So it's not like you have to take a bunch of classes that you wouldn't have had to otherwise (well maybe a couple).

Does anyone know if you are admitted into l&s in a non pre buisness major can you transfer into either econ or pre buisness econ and if so how do you go about transering.

Also is it possible to create your own major with a concentration in buisness econ?

sure, its still in the school of L&S - just talk to the department you want to switch to

Can you see this?

Hmm

can you transfer before school starts? i heard u can do this at orientation day. also if you don't change before school starts and you decide u want to pursue another major, would you take the courses that fulfull the major you have or would i take courses that fulfill requirements of the major i want to do like business/econ?

Of Course - again, go to the dept. you want to transfer to. I'm not sure if you need to have accepted your admission before you do this, but I doubt it. They give you a student ID in the admission.

You won't be starting any classes for your major your first quarter here. Some of your classes might be in the same subject as your major, but those classes (lower division) usually pull double duty as GEs, so its good for you to take them anyway. Don't worry about this yet. Just start taking a few easy GEs in a few subjects you enjoy.

My friend was accepted to UCLA, but she's really worried cause she made a class change in her spring schedule. When she reported it to UCLA, they said they will review her application again. She switched her anatomy class to anthropology and she applied as an undeclared life science major. Does she have to be worried?

Hmm
Yes.

I very very sincerely doubt it.

Can you convert pretty much any class to Honors by 'footnoting',
meaning extra research project, paper, seminar etc.?

Are there any internships or study abroad programs primarily
for students in the Honors program?

Do you get class registration priority with Honors and/or more
advanced standing (Sophomore after one quarter)?

Depends on the professor's willingness to accept an extra paper.

Not that I know of. However, most internship or abroad units can be converted into honors units anyway.

Why are so many CCers obsessed with class standing? It doesn't matter! Anyway, you get priority enrollment.

i am going to the aap scholars day...but what is this college welcome day? i'm assuming i don't get to go to that since i get to go to the aap one, but i figured it cant hurt to verify. are there any major differences between the two, other than who they are for?

^^I was wondering that too. What is the difference between the two??

haha yeah i saw your post in a different thread, and it reminded me i wanted to know too...i figured it couldnt hurt to ask on this thread also

It's a high school thing... surely you remem

socalpatty,

Is that it? I never really thought about it in that light. I've been out of high school for too long then. (Actually, not long enough...God I hated high school).

Icarus, what do you mean just go to the department and ask them? you mean emailing or calling them or going there personally? i live pretty far away.

so does every freshmen start off taking GE's as every other freshmen or what? and what do you mean by "you won't be starting any classes for your major your first quarter here?" does that mean you dont start classes for my major until junior year or something or that we all need to finish takin GE classes 1st?

It means "chill out and don't worry." :p

Seriously, just don't worry. One quarter of having the "wrong major" or not taking major classes won't kill you.
