CURRENT BRUINS to take questions!

ooohnelle:

UCSD has a strong theatre department which surprises many who think of UCSD as strictly science/engineering. Check out this link:

<a href="http://dah.ucsd.edu/about/Theatre.shtml%5B/url%5D">http://dah.ucsd.edu/about/Theatre.shtml</a></p>

It also has the La Jolla Playhouse (founded by Gregory Peck) on campus. There are also many concerts of all types on campus.

If you haven't already done so, you might want to visit the campus and specifically check out the theatre program.

UCSD also has some great social science and humanity programs.

It's definitely not a one trick pony.

sigh i know, but i feel that la offers more opportunities in all areas.. theatre/acting, fashion design, etc. thanks for the advice. keep it coming!! i actually have 6 topics posted... if anyone cares to share =)

I thought they didn't have fashion design....

the city of la offers more in the arts than does san diego.. i'm planning to study specifically fashion in NY after my BS, but i want to double major in physio and design/media arts at UCLA

Hi... I had two questions I was hoping someone could answer. First can you sell back books at the beginning, or any other time during the quarter, or only at the end? Also does anyone know if AAP gives priority registration if signed up for after your Freshman year, or only if signed up for as PLUS during Freshman year? Thanks.

You can sell books back whenever you want. The book buy-back office in Ackerman is open throughout the quarter.

No idea about the AAP thing.

i believe for AAP you get priority registration starting the quarter after you're officially in it (or starting your second quarter for those going to be in it as freshmen in the fall).

Do we find out about our roommate assignments online or through mail?

When will textbooks finish appearing on the uclaestore website?

through mail, around late august i'd assume.

your textbook list should be complete around mid-september, i think.

My question is short and simple:

UCLA or USC?

USC = University of Spoiled Children, University of Second Choice

UCLA = University of Caucasian Lost in Asians, U (see) C(see) Losta Asians.

It's up to you (pick UCLA, trust me)

what is AAP & can you apply to get in?

i have a question about buying books as well. i read from some threads that students use half.com and ebay.com to buy books, but i looked up the books that i have to take from half.com and other bookstores, and they DO NOT match up. so, would it be better to just purchase the books from the UCLA store to make sure that i get the right books?

as for the college honors program, if we missed the workshop at orientation, is there another time for incoming freshmen to attend once the quarter starts?

thanks in advance.

go to the college honors website (<a href="http://www.college.ucla.edu/up/honors/%5B/url%5D">http://www.college.ucla.edu/up/honors/</a>) and it has a list of workshops and... basically everything you need to know.
spend enough time on the website and you won't need to go to the workshop =P

but the admission site said that you are required to attend a mandatory workshop and fill out some forms there? can we be excused from attending the workshop??

oh, and by the way, my friend also has a question about the textbooks. he is a life science major, and his counselor told him to take the math 3 series. the textbooks that the math3A class requires him to buy are :

Neuhauser (Bruin Advantage; You Save 18.6%) Calculus Biology & Medicine (Pkg) W/ssm (2nd)

Neuhauser (New Low Price) Calculus For Biology & Medicine (2nd)

OPTIONAL: Neuhauser Sm Calculus Biology & Medicine (2nd)

he is confused about which two required books to buy because they seem to be the same. his questions are :
1. what is the difference between those books, and should he buy all three? if not all three, which book is recommended?
2. (( this is also my question too )) where else can we go buy textbooks besides half.com,ebay.com,amazon.com and the UCLA store?

for the honors program, i believe the workshop is mandatory if you're joining the honors program.
if you've already been accepted last spring, the workshop at orientation was purely informative (all of the info from it was on the website...)
hope that helps.

1) The first one is a combination of the textbook with the solutions manual. The second is the textbook and the third is the manual. Maybe some students have one and not the other.

2) I don't know of any, but half.com should have everything.

I'm also taking 3A. I purchased the textbook on half.com and the manual on amazon.co.uk (It was a few dollars cheaper...I'm really stingy about money)

=</p>

liyana179, im still confused about honors program, but i guess i will give them a call to clarify some things. thank-you though =)

and misterr, my friend said thanks for explaining about the textbooks =)

nvm............

x3, are you in the honors program already? if so, then you can get all the info you need off the website, or talk to someone involved with it.
if you aren't in it and you plan to be, you have to go to a workshop in order to be allowed to join it.
and yah they really don't make the honors program easy to understand... took me about a week to wrap my head around all the requirements lol.
