Engineers don't take regular calc 1 and 2 (math 111 and math 112). They take Engineering calc 1 and 2 (math 191 and 192). However, from my experience at least, almost all bio majors will take 111 or 112. In either class- especially in 112- you'll have a lot of bio majors/premeds.

i just got a call from the cornell track coach. sounds like a could be running there this time next year. how is the student/athlete experience at cornell?

for ILR admissions, how do u show interest in ILR related fields? what kind of extra curriculars, high school courses, etc. would show that you are a good fit for ILR?

For ILR and taking classes outside, say i want to take like a specific real estate law class in hotel school, I would be free to do so, or are there prerecs requirements or only certanin classes I can take from outside my school? Also 2nd. Say I finish my degree requriemetns, if I wanted to stay an extra semester and take certain classes of my choice from any school, would i be able to ?

or for teh summer even?

Being a student-athlete on campus is like having a job, especially for the track team since they start practicing day one and don't end till the end of the year. And this is a job that you are not paid to do. Loving to run is definitely something that drives you to stay on the team at Cornell. Make sure you balance things well as an athlete too.

are there lockers in the bathrooms? or do you have to bring ur stuff everytime u go to the bathroom? do you need a shower basket thing to hold your clothes and shampoo and everything, if so where would you put it? oO so confusing!

There aren't lockers in the bathrooms. There are shelves or cubbies where you can place your toiletries. Some people use them but some people use a shower caddy instead.

Most people use shower caddies

where do people put their clothes when they are showering

Each shower has its own hook and separate area to change in before the actual shower. Most people leave their clothes in their room I and just bring underwear with them to the shower and hang it on the hooks and then change into all their clothes when they're back in the room. You could also bring all your clothes with you to the shower and hang them on the hooks and then change in the bathroom.

anyone for gregc's question up there

gregc, you can take pretty much any class from any college to a degree. some professors will limit the enrollment of students from other colleges. the intro to wines class, for examples, is only open to seniors, but it's open to juniors and seniors from the hotel school. also, i think non arts students can take only a certain number of language courses before they need to pay extra to take additional courses. as long as you meet the prerequisites, i don't see why you cannot take a course.

in terms of your second questions, there's actually a percentage of students that do not graduate in 4 years. you could plan on graduating in 9 semesters if you really want to stay an extra semester, though i don't really know why any would want to since you're going to be paying an extra 25k to attend for another semester.

A few questions about AEM:

If I applied to AEM, would I have to take any agriculture classes?
Is it considered better or worse than ILR? What is the main difference? Do more people take AEM?
Is it harder to get into than ILR?
Do most people go on to business school?
From ILR, do most people go on to law school?

Any answers to these questions would be appreciated, and sorry in advance for those that have already been answered.

Just a few questions about Cornell

How's the weather compared to MN (hot summers, cold winters, snows a lot) & CA (moderate all year round, rains in spring)? Do people usually use a lot of AC? If so, at what times of the year? The school pays for the electricity/water bill right?

How large is the campus compared to others?

Sorry if some of these questions were answered already but I didn't really have the time to read the 25 pages >_>

cornell is mild summers, turns cold early october, first snow is late october, snows pretty much every week, 1 or 2 big storms that drop a couple of feet, keeps snowing until early april and starts to warm up, still a little chilly until may

campus is really big. expect a 15-20 min walk to class

Four of my five roomates live in the south. Two from Texas, and two from South Carolina. Only one of the four is really bothered by the cold, but he insists on going out in shorts even when it's below freezing. So, go figure.

The cold really isn't that bad, from my point of view.

15-20 mins to each class? Does college have passing periods like HS does? If so, how long? Sorry, that's probably a hellof dumb question >_>

Hm the cold doesn't seem that bad compared to MN. What do people usually wear during the winter (jeans/heavier waterproof pants, tshirt/sweatshirt/light jacket, boots, gloves/hats, etc)? Does it ever reach the high 90's in the summer?

And I hear there are many gorges @ Cornell. Are these part of the campus or just nearby off-campus?

the gorges are seen throughout the whole campus, because you have to walk across bridges to get to class. theres the bridge across bebe lake, the thurston ave bridge, the suspension bridge, and the stuart ave bridge all on cornells campus. it makes for a really scenic walk haha. but also as for the time it takes to get to class, it takes 15-20 mins typically on your FIRST walk, as in from wherever you live to your first class. once youre on central campus (where most of the academic buildings are) it doesnt take long to find your way within it, so dont worry.

Are the bridges really high/long? Are they slippery during the winter? I'm kinda scared of heights >_>
