youll be fine, i promise haha. bebe lake isnt really that high at all, and thats only pedestrians allowed. suspension is by far the highest, and some people get scared of it i guess, but really after a while you forget youre even crossing them i promise haha. as for thurston and stuart, cars go along them as well as walkers, so its not like a rickety old thing, dont worry. cornell keeps ALL of the bridges pretty well salted, because lets face it, if they didnt, it would be a huge lawsuit waiting to happen. in fact, when it snows, the bridges are probably the lease slippery of all...so your falling will be done on solid ground.

try google maps and then satellite map to see the campus - it will give you an idea of the size of the campus and its realtion to the town/lake

I do apologize if these questions have been asked already.

-How hard is it to get the classes you want (or how efficient is class registration)?
-How extensive are the requirements, and are they rigid enough to negatively affect students' learning experience?
-Are the students really self-segregated by class and ethnicity, or is there integration?
-How's the location in regard to proximity to urban centers?

Much thanks in advance.

CoursEnroll (how we select classes), gets easier as you get older, because you sign up according to seniority. however, you can get a lot of classes you want anyway through cornells add/drop period, and if you STILL cant, for most classes you just need to talk to the professor and theyll usually let you in.

it depends on what school youre talking about. in arts and sciences, the requirements are broad enough that you can pick things youre relatively interested in that still fit the requirements. this also makes it pretty easy to take easier courses in the subjects you dont like but have to cover (i.e. i took a joke physics class, since i hate physics).

Theres integration, because cornell is so big, although a fair amount of minorities choose to live in places like the latino living center, ujaama, etc. but everything is open to everyone. it kind of depends on your own personal circle.

cornell is semi-remote, but its not like were in the middle of nowhere. collegetown and the commons as well as the pyramid mall are the surrounding places, but if you REALLY need to get away theres always syracuse. but realistically, ithaca isnt a big urban center, but theres enough to do here that youll be alright. plus the school, partially because of its size, brings so much to its students on campus, like concerts, speakers, etc.

nooooobs. Everything will be fine once you get to Cornell, there's really nothing to stress about. You'll look back on freshman year and sigh and think about how easy it was.

Hey, just a question.
Is history at CAS really competitive and popular major?
I personally believe that not too many people want to major in history, but I can't be so sure.

does Mary Donlon dorms have closets? and what bulbs do their lamps use?

hahaha yes it does and regular bulbs. you should buy these things when you get to school.

does low rise 6 have an elevator?

blackouts at cornell?

cause I've only experienced it once in my life (NYC BLACKOUT 2005? LOL)

I have one every weekend.

HAHAHA spanks amazing response. when i hear blackout i dont think about electricity.

lol

not what i had in mind

someone on your floor will blackout or have the parameds called on him...it's bound to happen!!!

it never happened on my floor, though it did happen on the flloor below me, and I was partially responsible, because the kid challenged me to go shot for shot. "I've been drinking for four months, I can sooooo beat you" were his last coherent words.

New question!

Is it true that, at Cornell, you have free dinners?

then whats the point of meal plans.

its not true. you sign up for a certain meal plan (which is ANY time you swipe your card at a dining hall). you also sing up for a certain number of big red bucks, which are used mostly on central campus dining areas (trillium, statler, etc.).

West Campus has a free food pantry! What what!

Is there a writting seminar without much writting in it?

...lol
