Current ED studnets "get to know each other" thread

Changed my mind again. Now I'm once again almost sure that I am applying ED. This whole admissions process is seriously nerve-racking. With Columbia's dorms, are the only two types of rooms the 4-person+1 bathroom room and the single+hall bathroom room? The singles, although the looked sort of small when I went on the tour, must be great for studying without interruptions.

for freshmen the 2 main dorms are either single with hall (Jay) or 2 doubles with one bathroom (Carmen). There are a couple other dorms freshmen can get into but those two are the main ones. If i got in I think I'd probably go to carmen since its the more social one apparently, I'd go study in a library or something.
so my school requiers all ED mail in stuff to be turned in by last week so im pretty much all applied, aaaahhh. about financial aid: what has to be turned in by nov. 1? the columbia thing for it, fafsa, what else? and finally, ashleylois if you want I'd like to read your essay..... and yes, you are neurotic.

does anyone know how columbia weighs on SAT II scores? i would like to find out as i did miserably and don't know what to do with my life.

oup,i finally sent it in today. good luck to everyone!

on a different note, yesterday was my birthday. now i can buy cigarettes and be drafted into a war. yay.

whats TCCi?

lol is the not speaking name thing some kind of a good luck thing? and if you dont mind I'm adding your name onto the roster list ...# 30 !!

TCCi Naviance is this online program my school uses to help organize the college process. it collects all your scores and personal info and lets you search for colleges and compare your scores with the average acceptance history from your school. it also gives you a breakdown of the acceptance statistics from your school to each individual college over the last couple of years. it then rates your chances at the schools, so you can see where you stand. its a good personal manager too, because you can search for schools, look at their info., and compile of list of schools you're interested in/applying to. it's kind of like the collegeboard website, but a lot better.

What I would do if I got in on Dec 15th: Scream, pinch myself, call everyone I know, treat my best friends to a feast and start buying books to read up for next year! And then on Jan 1st I'd pray not to get an offer from Cambridge because it'd break my heart. Buuut... I'm getting ahead of myself.

shanghai for vacation? lol whats so fun there... other than the endless shopping
sacks, tcci sounds like an awsome program lol

I Sent It In

Oh! Yeah the shopping is awesome... you can get most brand names for a fraction of the cost in Singapore if you know where to go.

I guess I like it 'cause I usually go there with my uncles, aunts and 19 cousins and we invade this huge bargaining market. There are hundreds of shops selling almost everything, and the bargaining is addictive!! It's fun to walk around bumping into your family members and seeing what everyone's bought, and the glib talkers usually chime in on one of my deals to help me cut the price by 3 or 4 times (I can't bargain for nuts, I actually believe when they say they're not making money off that price). =)

We also make day trips up to the gorgeous West Lake and various villages and pagodas (even the one in the legend "Madam White Snake") and all... I guess it means more to me because of the Chinese history and culture. Oh and that's not to mention the incredible variety of food! =)

I sent mine in also.............

update your app stats in the other thread if you dun mind ... I kinda wana see how many of us would still be here in december lol

aahhh singapore is so cool. Letliu, please host the 30-odd CC ED posters to come visit you!!!!!!!!!

lol guangzhou for vacation? I'd choose the more nature-y areas of china, like for hiking and stuff becasue some of those moutains are just awsome!

ps. congrats 2010' CU EDers! we have the most organized profile thread out of all the ivies... GO COLUMBIA

less than 6 weeks until decisions.. still gota send out my financial form then I'm totally in the mood for admission freak out

Hm, if I chose anywhere in China, it'd be my native Hebei. I love that place...so gorgeous, especially around where my grandparents live, except all of the recent construction is choking the river, kinda sad.

Then I wish I could also hop a plane over to Japan from Beijing and stock up on cheap anime and the japanese rock music that I'm hopelessly addicted to. xD

if I were to go to japan, I'd stock up on those manga books. Although my japanese's horrible, I love reading them in their original context (and they arnt that expensive).

of course I'm hopelessly addicted to anime too. not as much for j-pop/j-rock though.

what do you crazy kids do when youre not on the Columbia cc board?
