Current Emory Students

How is the workload at Emory? What about the grading scale?

What's a normal day like? How much work/studying? Thanks.

workloads not bad. i usually get to sleep by 1, almost always by 2, if i never procrastinated, i could easily get to sleep every night by 12. a typical day is hard to say, since it depends when your classes are. like this semester i have 4 classes on mon wed fri. so on those days i have class class lunch/finishing up hw class class gym shower dinner work. tuesdays i have only one class so i wake up late, go to class, give a tour, go to lunch, gym, shower, work/tan when it's nice, go to cvs if i have to, a lot of people (at least my friends do) hang out in lullwater park... i'm not sure what exactly youre looking for.
no idea about the grading scale. most of my classes dont curve. i think for the most part you know what grade youll end up with. and some teachers are harder than others (cough edwards) but nothing too bad from what ive seen. then again, i havent taken any bio or chem yet.

anyway, feel free to IM me at cookiemnstr8286. i dont like answering very detailed questions on here, it scares me. dont ask why.

Workload is what you want it to be - it could be easy or it could be difficult depending on how many classes you sign up for and which classes. The grading scale is A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, etc. A normal day for me is waking up at 10:30, class at 11:30 to about 2:15 (or, on Thursdays, 5:30), then eating in the DUC, then schoolwork, then whatever I want to do. I do work a fair amount - a couple hours a day - but that's only necessary in order to get A's.

--What do you mean by a couple of hours? 4 or 5

copper45,

Why do you mean by a couple of hours?

I do work probably 3 to 4 hours a day. I usually take Friday off.

Grading - how hard? Do Emory students get surprised by low grades? Is their "grade deflation" or does it feel fair?
