I’m currently a freshman in SEAS pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science.
Feel free to ask me about academic life, social life, courses, food, and anything else you’d like to know about Penn.
I will not be answering “Chance me” questions, as they are largely indeterminable.
what about greek life? does it dominate the social scene? can u still party at a frat w/o being in one? are they exclusive? can u balance frat and academics easily?
Im a current freshman too so i can answer questions. @ezbreezy8022 yes you can still party at a frat without being one especially as a freshman. Usually only freshman go to open frat parties because upperclassmen go to frat mixers and clubs downtown. It will be easy to get into frat parties as a freshman as long as the number of girls you go with is greater than the number of guys.
Greek life does not dominate the social scene at all. Although if you like to party it is highly recommended that you join one.
Penn had delayed rush but the frats dirty rush during the fall so you will be going to a lot of parties during dirty rush to mix with the frat brothers. However, it is still very possible to balance academics and dirty rushing especially because fall freshman schedule is usually very light.
@pk1jk1 i have a lot of free time- i spend most of it being social and hanging out with friends or going out at night. The work load is a lot easier than i thought it would be and at times even easier than high school
@USPanther social life is amazing. Most people will go out friday and saturday night. A good amount of people go out thursday night and a few people go out wednesday night. Never anything going on sunday-tuesday nights tho. The school is very academic focused as well so if you miss some nights partying or dont go out as often your peers totally understand that you are busy and you dont feel like you are missing out or feel left out. I personally didnt like partying before i got here but now i love it and i am so glad to be at penn
