Hey guys.
I am a current freshman at CSUF and a musical theatre “wannabe”. (the term for fresh. and sopho. students hoping to get into the BFA program was coined by the department, not me.)
I know the whole process can be daunting, so I am here to answer any and all questions to the best of my ability!

Hey, Liz! Glad to have you representing us - it's much more vital to hear the student perspective, I believe.

Did you by any chance look into UCI and UCLA? There is a question on another CSUF Thread about those two schools in comparison. If you need a link to that thread, let me know.

:)

I applied to both UCI and UCLA last year but was academically regected by both schools. I am applying for transfer this year to Elon U, Roosevelt U, UArts, Ithaca C, Otterbein C, and Cornish C.

Maybe you could pop over to the following page and help out the student in comparing the institutions (I'm sure you looked into UCI and UCLA carefully before applying).

Wow, it's been a while since I've seen these boards... good to be back! I am also a current freshman MT major at CSUF. So far I'm loving the experiences I've had here, and I'm preparing myself for next year and jurying. The excitement never ends!

Before I came to Cal State Fullerton, I did a really thorough job of researching the school and the department. I made sure that I knew the ins and outs of life as a musical theatre major before I came in August, and I feel that my transition from high school to college has been more successful because of it. If you are curious about anything regarding this program, the answers to most of your questions are already on these boards. If you can't find anything that answers your question, I'm here to help!

Oh, just a quick word of advice to incoming freshmen- start preparing for juries NOW. If you're not already enrolled in voice lessons and dance classes, do so ASAP. Start going to bookstores and reading plays. Audition for summer shows. The more prepared you are now, the better off you'll be in your musical theatre career. Good luck, and hopefully I'll see some of you around campus come August!

Hi i was wondering when are the auditions for incoming freshmen at csuf?

We don’t audition incoming freshmen. If the university accepts you, and if you list “Theatre” as your major, you are in.

Assessments for class placement and advancement occur when you are ready to test up.

The big jury for the BFA (we make the last cut - the “jury” into the BFA - at the end of the sophomore level curriculum.

Read through the CSUF posts for further info.
