This is not a place to discuss the rights and wrongs, or do’s and don’ts I am just looking for capturing information from a broad source. If you currently have a child in high school and they are finished with winter break.
Are they:
Back to in person, masks optional
Back to in person, masks mandated
Can do virtual or in person
Only virtual offered at this time
Feel free to add your location, and any notes about testing requirements as well. Thank you for sharing!
“Close contacts” of positive cases must be quarantined/isolated unless vaccinated with a negative rapid test (and those vaxxed with negative test can return to class). But “close contact” is very narrowly defined to include pretty much only the students next to you in the seating chart.
School sends emails to parents when there are positive cases on campus (about 1 to 7 known positive cases per week since September).
in person only
masks mandatory
optional pool testing with parental permission
test and stay option eligibility only if signed up or pooled testing
no virtual even for covid positive
my daughter is in chorus - they sing with masks on
I just learned that if you are in school after day 5 you can’t sing at all until day 11 and band is the same (percussion is probably different)
band is the only activity cancelled in our school, there is no marching band at this time of year so it is indoors. chorus and orchestra are masked but the winds in orchestra are only masked if they have a instrument specific mask (which my S does)
In person with virtual option available through district approved online program. Masks are mandatory, testing is optional but available. Fully vaccinated kids (vaccine + booster) not required to quarantine or isolate if exposed to positive person. Suburban Colorado public school.
in person, no mask mandate, no testing. virtual option for those that need to quarantine. but quarantine rules are lax and dominant attitude is “don’t ask don’t tell”, especially on varsity sports teams. suburban Louisiana public HS
