Hey!
I'm Carly and I am a current undergraduate student in my second year at Hofstra University! I'm here to answer ANY questions anyone might have about Hofstra! Whether it is about the academics, student life, or even the Hofstra cats, don't hesitate to ask!
Talk to you soon!

I would like to study business Entrepreneurship and want to know what the classes are like and if learning is hands on.
How’s the student body, how do the students act ?
What does your high school transcript have to look like or your credentials have to be to get in to the school ? And how’s the financial aid process ?

Hey BVPapillon!

So glad you’re interested in Hofstra! I have a couple of friends who are already Business Entrepreneurship majors, who really love it! To request more information directly from the department, check out their website!

Also, for all the information you would want to know about your application/applying to Hofstra, you can request all information here right from Admissions: [Admission - Opportunities for High School Students: School of Education | Hofstra University](Join our contact list!)

As far the student body is concerned, like most colleges, the student body is very diverse and eager for education and success. In my opinion, the best way to get a feel for the student body here at Hofstra is to spend a day as one! Check out the Hofstra Up Close program and see if that is something you would be interested in!

Hi, HofstraCarly. I was wondering how long I would have to wait for a decision if I applied regular decision but I finish my application early? Do you recommend switching to early action II so I can get a faster decision? Thanks for replying.

If your still checking this thread. How do transfer students fit in? I am aware that Hofstra has dorms for freshmen only which I feel might segregate me from the rest of the new incomming students. Problem with transfer dorms is I fear I might be surrounded by the same unmotivated community college students I already saw first hand. Also with transfers is I have no clue how diverse the student body age might be. It might sound good for a 25 year old but too much diversity makes people cliche’ish.

Can I easily get myself a group of friends who are actually connected and in the loop, or am I doomed to be only being able to find friends in the same situation without any network beyond a few?

Hey successhelly24!
If you have your application all ready to go, I would highly recommend sending it to us by Sunday the 15th, which is the deadline for the Early Action II! This really is an advantage because you will get a decision before regular decisions and to let the admission counselors give you their fullest consideration!

Here is the link to the application deadlines/explanation page on our website:

GOOD LUCK and let me know if you need anything else!

25yoTransfer,
Don’t worry! You do not have to live with a specific group of people, that is only if you want to. Sometimes people feel more comfortable with people in the same situation as them, like freshman living with all freshman. Our dorms are great for diversity because anyone can live there, no matter if you are a transfer or what your year in school is, the only places that are for specific people are the freshman dorms. Hofstra does not stick all the transfers in the corner to only hang out with each other, don’t worry! I understand coming in as a transfer can be nerve racking, but my best advice is to just get out there and meet people! Hofstra has so many different clubs, events, and opportunities that you will meet friends! Just get involved!

I called Hofstra and they said that they made a decision on my son’s application for Early Action 1. When will he find out what it is?

@lilaw88

They should be coming shortly, I think. I heard December 15th or the 13th (this Friday). I also applied EA1 and I’m patiently awaiting for a decision. At my high school, the rumor is that Early Action applications should be answered this week by most colleges (tears will be shed)! Best of luck to your son.

Will they post the decisions online?

Yes. Hofstra should have sent you an email for activating your personal online portal.

Decisions have not been posted yet. Mine says:

"Thank you for submitting your application

You have taken the first step toward finding your Pride and Purpose at Hofstra University! Hofstra’s admission committee looks forward to reviewing your application upon receipt of all supporting documentation. Check back often to monitor the status of your application!

Your application’s progress:
Completed! Your application is complete and is currently in the process of being reviewed by our Admission Deans.
Your application status is not currently available. Check back soon!"

I got my activation email about 10 days after I submitted my application, probably the amount of time it took them to receive and process it. If he is accepted, you will get additional mail sent to your house.

According to Hofstra’s Admissions Blog, we will get letters in the mail on the 16th

^^^

Makes sense. The online portal notifications should be out Thursday the 12th or Friday the 13th then.

We could find out as early as tomorrow? How do you know that it will be posted online first?

They will send you and email that it’s up. I haven’t got one yet.
