Current Ithaca MT Students?

My D is a rising HS senior who will be auditioning at Ithaca this year, and we’re planning a visit to the College. Because we’ll be visiting on a Saturday (right after classes start in the fall), my D will be participating in the general Admissions Info Session and Tour, but the Theatre Arts dept is closed. Would any current MT student be willing to spend some time with her, explain the MT program a bit, and show her around the theatre facilities informally? Many thanks!!

BrownSugar.....I hope there is a current MT student here who can help. If not, please contact me by email because a very good friend of my daughter's from here in VT is a rising junior in the BFA Acting program, although his background is very much in MT and he auditioned for MT. Even though he is in acting, he is taking private voice and dance and was recently a lead in one of their musicals. I just saw him perform locally and my D has done many shows with him and they are good friends. He is outgoing and I am sure would be willing to meet up and answer questions, etc. Let me know.

Soozie, When we leave stagedoor on 8/19 we're going up to Binghamton on the way home and spending the night there.. I was born there and gonna finally show my D Katie around there on sunday (where I was born, the house I lived in, etc..)
Now Monday AM (8/20) we're going to head up to Ithaca and take a campus tour (My D will be a junior this year, btw) and check out the area. Do you know if students will be there yet? I was wondering if possibly the student you were talking about in the above post would be on campus yet on that date? If so, would love to have my D meet with him for a bit.... thanks!

KatiesDad, I could try to find out but that seems early to return to college if not a freshman. My kid will be at her college but doesn't live on campus and so normally dorms would not yet be available and she is only gonna be there due to jobs, rehearsals, shows, but otherwise would not be. Looking at Ithaca's calendar, I see that classes being Aug. 29 (earlier than either of my kids' college classes) but my gut feeling is the students would not be back yet on Aug. 20. I could contact this boy to find out if he'd be there though. Let me see if I can get his number or email from my daughter. He lives in our state but not our town and they are friends through years of theater and voice and put on a cabaret they created with one another a year ago. He is a very nice kid.

Thanks, that would be great. I realize it's a little early, but that's when we'll be there, so thought I'd at least give it a shot.

Soozie, one of the CC participants graciously did offer to meet us and, together with a friend of hers, show us around. Thanks so much for offering a connection with your D's friend though!!

BrownSugar.....great that it all worked out for you! CC is a great place to network.

KatiesDad....you are in luck! I sent an email to my D's theater friend in our state who is in the BFA program at Ithaca. Guess what? He is moving back to school on August 19. He says he would love to be of service to a prospective student. He gave me his college email and his cell phone number (well, my D likely has all that anyway) and said to tell you to call him at any time and he will chat with you about Ithaca and could possibly meet up with you when you are on campus. I can't post his contact information here. You don't have email enabled and my PM box is full and I don't like using PMs. Can you email me at SoozieVT which is at aol and I will get you the contact information he offered? Then you can contact him.

Coincidentally, he tells me that he and his mom are going to the same musical production that we are going to with our D and so we'll be sitting with him. I didn't realize he will also perform in a show my D is putting on either. :D

thanks a lot Soozie! Just sent you an email...

And I sent you back the contact information, after losing my email three times due to AOL quitting and having to start over again. So, I hope you finally got it. Take care. Glad to help.

My D is auditioing in Nov, but will probably not be done in time for a regular tour. We are also going to see Full Monty that afternoon. But, I was hoping there is a current MT student who might be willing to tell my D about the program (though I do realize many may be tied up with the show). If anyone is out there, please let us know how to contact you! And, what you think about the program.
