studying: some go to the library, some go to the campus center, some go to brown and brew. it depends on personal preference. i like to study in my room or in dorm's lounge area.

library hours: http://www.library.tufts.edu/tisch/hours.htm

quiet places: i'm not sure. i know library-wise, people either go to tisch or ginn.

i can't comment really on freshman dorms, since i never lived on one. and they are located in different locations on-campus.

in MOST dorms, males and females are not separated.

i turned down wesleyan, brandeis, bc, bu, nyu, and trinity college for tufts

i loved the campus and its international focus... and the mascot ;)

Boston: depends how busy i am. maybe once or twice a week every week or every other week. it really depends.

i interact with my friends and their friends at other colleges about once a week.

the people are generally very friendly. and i do love that. i love the language classes, and i love the excollege.

sorry, i'm in a hurry so these are short responses. but i hope they are helpful!

Campus is pretty small, so it's not really a big deal "where" the dorms are. The downhill ones are downhill, the uphill ones are situated around the residential quad. The only dorm on the academic quad is West, and it's all-sophomore. They're alright, some are nicer than others, but you can make any dorm livable. I mean, Wren may be everyone's pick for nastiest dorm, but I happen to love its lounges, something that South lacks. Someone told me that the Senate is thinking of using this year's budget surplus on putting nice things into the dorms though.

Some halls are completely coed - your neighbors could be guys. In South it's kind of like, every two rooms are girls and then the next two are boys. Some dorms separate halls by sex - Lewis I think does this.

I chose Tufts over William and Mary, NYU-Stern and Dartmouth after a year.

I go into Boston fairly often - sometimes once a week, sometimes once every two weeks. usually to eat, but sometimes for other entertainment purposes. I don't know if people try to meet other Boston college students, but they definitely meet up with friends from home that go to other Boston colleges. My friends are constantly meeting up with friends from Harvard, MIT, BC, BU, Northeastern, etc.

I've listed my fave. things about Tufts in a bazillion other threads, lol.

STUDYING: libraries (tisch, ginn, which are open from 8 am until 1 am, late night study until 3 am), starbucks, diesel cafe, common rooms, everyone finds what/where forks fot them
Fresshman dorms: usually pretty loud and it can be hard to go to bed early and get work done in your room, RAs are stricter, but are more social

Schools turned down: University of Vermont was the only one I had heard from, I got into Tufts ED1.

Why Tufts? To me, Tufts is in perfect balance. Perfect balance of urban and green campus, perfect size, not too big, not too small, just the right amount of academic - everyone at Tufts is very well rounded in addition to being very intellectual, well-balanced athletics - Div III but competetive...etc.

how often do you go into boston? AT LEAST once a week. to some this seems way too often, but my friends and i love going downtown.

how often do you interact with students at the other colleges in boston? a few times a month - it depends on where you have friends.

what's your favorite thing about Tufts? everything. ha. yeah i wrote them in other posts.

yep, i took 5 credits this semester (and none of them were slacker/easy courses) and still went downtown frequently and out during the week, etc..

where do Jumbos go to study?
i usually went to the library when i really needed to get work done. otherwise, i went to the campus center or stayed home.

how long is the library open?
see the website.

how many libraries/quiet places to study are there?
a lot. i never really had any problems finding somewhere to do work when i needed to.

how are the freshman dorms? where on campus are they?
i didn't live in one, but i think at last count, there were 3 - 2 uphill and 1 downhill.

how are boys/girls separated in the dorms? by hall, floor, etc?
depends on the dorm - in many dorms, it's coed by room, meaning you could live next door to boys. others are coed by floor. suites and apartments are all the same gender.

what schools did you turn down Tufts for?
UMass, but i only applied there as a safety for Tufts.

what made you choose Tufts?
location, good drama program, focus on liberal arts

how often do you go into boston?
once a month, maybe. but a lot more during the summer.

how often do you interact with students at the other colleges in boston?
not that often. i worked at a camp with a lot of BC kids so i see them occasionally but that's it.

what's your favorite thing about Tufts? The people. Most definitely.

haha. i have 2 pocket knives (from WILDERNESS!) and had silverware in my room, too. really...they don't monitor the contents of your room (though, don't try and bring a microwave in on moving day because they won't let you - if you want to bring it in, put it in a suitcase or something)
