Current Juniors: how to interpret your 2007 PSAT score

Ha! I got a 217 in Florida, I'm going to make it this year.

the three percentiles are the three subsections...math, reading, and english. not sections of the state

No; the three percentiles I gave are my state percentiles for the reading, math, and writing sections, respectively. My national percentiles are 98, 99, and 99; 99 overall. I was wondering if it was typical in IL for the overall percentile to be higher than the individual ones (as a result of students doing well in one area but not as well in others, rather than an even distribution of skill). I should hope that I would know that the three numbers are not sections of the state... especially with a score in the 99th percentile.

If you want more data, go to collegeboard.com, then in the section for teachers, skip intro, and go into the data and tables section.

Aren't the state and national percentiles provided by college board based on last year's test?

This years 99th percentile ends at 212 with those scoring 211 at the 98th percentile. If the 99th percentile ended at 212 last year (as posted by proudparent) can we concluded that finialists and commended numbers will stay the same nationally? Would that also mean the state numbers are the same? Anyway, can anyone who falls at the top 98th percentile have any chance of finialist for their state?

^ you need to be at least 99th percentile to even consider NMSF. For exact scores, check out the National Merit Thread for state cutoffs.

There will always be a little fluctuation. Stats say that the class of '09 is supposed to be a smart class. sigh

does anyone kno if princeton dartmouth and yale accept rushed score reports?

does dartmouth princeton and yale accept rushed sat scores?

i took it this past year and got a 222. anyone think there's any chance that california's would go up more than 5?

No, it would be extremely surprising for a state cutoff to increase that much. You should be safe.

haha. Yay i'm 5 above Ga's cut off, so I think i'll be safe. Except i switched schools, so my old school will get the notification. grr

my preliminary assessment is that for most states the semifinalist cutoff will not change from 2006....

sorry for the links not working in my previous post...They were both long links and CC just inserted ... in the middle..I have taken out http and www to circumvent this :)
