Hi, I'm about to decide on MHC as my college! I just wanted to ask, how is the job market for Mohos? Do they get good jobs? And how about grad schools? How is MHC's relationship with the other Seven Sisters? And finally.... after attending MHC, how would describe it? What did you love or want to change? Thank you in advance! :)

Mount Holyoke students get very good job offers. A lot of students go on to i-banking and in the past, a handful have gone (willingly) into the nonprofit sector. Mount Holyoke students get into and attend the best graduate schools (Yale, Harvard, Stanford, MIT, depending on department). The actual institution’s relationship with the other sisters is very strong; there is a “seven sisters” meeting that administrative types go to every month or so. Our (student) relationship with the others is not as strong. We are very connected to Smith, because it is down the road, but that is it. I love Mount Holyoke; it feels like home. I can not believe I will graduate next year.

Job market: The job market is terrible for everyone. But I would say that having a Mount Holyoke degree and our amazing alumnae network is really helpful. We have entire networking conferences on campus and there are always opportunities, starting as early as sophomore year, for getting your resume out, holding interviews with alums who are out in the working world, etc. I will disagree slightly with mtholyoke2010 and say that a LOT of our students go into the non-profit world or education, but like she said, it’s by choice; we tend to have a very service-oriented student body.

Grad schools: I have friends at Harvard, Yale, Georgetown, Cornell, Chicago…you can get into any graduate program from here. It’s not even a question to worry about. :)

Edit: The official list of most popular graduate schools is Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Tufts, Penn, Stanford, Berkeley, and Georgetown. So, yeah, pretty good. ;)

Really? Does SO MANY MHC ppl get into those grad schools? i got into MHC this year and im excited but ive bin “ambitioning” (hehe) to apply to yale next year as a transfer student. do u think its a good idea? all the talk of the nuclear yet diverse moho community greatly appeals to me. but ambitions first right? hence the idea. what do u think? or is it a better idea to just keep yale for grad? as a first year student shud i take up really challenging courses? and how do i really make myself stand out there? not jus as an achiever but as a personality, a leader, a friend. tips anyone?
