Hey fellow CC'ers,

I'm getting kinda bored of the songs I'm listening to now, so any recs would be awesome.

Thanks! :)

Hey fellow CC'ers,

bump y’all!

Andrew Bird, Counting Crows, Damien Rice, Eddie Vedder (Into the Wild Soundtrack), Elbow, Gregory Alan Isakov, Laura Marling, Lissie, Mumford and Sons, and Regina Spektor. I don’t know if you’ll like any of these but they’ve changed my life so you should give them a chance!

Isn’t this kinda irrelevant to this forum?

^^It’s something for us to listen to while we write our essays! :)

Oh… Haha! Good idea!

I love The Strokes, Florence + The Machine, Ellie Goulding, Arctic Monkeys, and Lily Allen.

Adele!!!

Augustana / Boys Like Girls (not their collaborations with other artists)

<3 Imogen Heap. La roux.

On the whole, I am pleasantly surprised by the relatively “non-pop” bent of the suggestions so far. Perhaps I shouldn’t be so concerned about youth of today. ;-)

Hopefully you won’t mind if I add some older “classics” into the mix, all thankfully free of the demon known as autotune:

The Pixies
Start with “Here Comes Your Man” and see where that takes you. A cover version was featured in the film “500 Days of Summer”, so maybe you know it already.

The Replacements
Again, start with “Alex Chilton” and see if you like it. As with “Here Comes Your Man”, I think it’s pretty much a perfect pop-rock song…perhaps more accessible than other 'mats (what you call the Replacements if you are a fan) songs.

Bobby Fuller Four
I confess I discovered this song via Wes Anderson’s great animated film “Fantastic Mr. Fox”. Again, like the songs I mention above, I think this is a perfect pop song.

Okay, well here are a couple more from this decade:

New Black Keys will be here shortly. Prepare to be rocked.

Also, check out Rival Sons’ disc “Pressure & Time” if you like Led Zep style hard rock.

preppossibly- How can anything possibly be irrelevant on College Confidential? haha. btw, loving the non-pop suggestions, cause pop is so… mainstream. Keep them rolling in, guys!

@fascination: This is the “Cafe” section, where I believe anything goes…unlike people posting “Chance Me” threads in the main section. ;-P

My Chemical romance, Coldplay, muse, paramore, we the kings, the band perry, Taylor swift, amy winehouse, John Mayer, onerepublic, and Daniel powter

^^I love we the kings! No taylor swift though… haha. IMOGEN HEAP FTW

Hey… Don’t go insulting my T-Swift… I’m a total swiftie (I’m from the south)

@prepppossibly AHHH I LOVE UR MUSIC TASTE:)

artists: 30 seconds to mars, good charlotte, avril lavigne (I only recommend the newest album), fort minor, three days grace, onrepublic, simple plan, lifehouse, linkin park

songs: beautiful lie, the bottom, head above water, numb, take me under, gone forever, 100 suns, you and me (highly recommend this one), the sharpest lives, this is how i disappear…

If you want to listen to music while essay-writing, I would recommend classical music.

@clairee thanks! I love my music too ;)

Oh, I’m sorry, preppossibly. I wasn’t insulting T-Swizzle, if you like her, good for you. It’s just that I’ve never been into country. I’m sorry if you got offended.
