Current NYU HEOP Students!

Hey guys,

I'm a Junior and seriously, the only school I want to go to is NYU. :P My counselor said I should check out the HEOP - Higher Education Opportunity program at NYU for low-income students. I checked out some websites like this one and it looks awesome.

Now...how do I apply? :P From what I read, I meet all of the requirements except a "combined math & verbal SAT score between 1000 and 1250". I'm in an SAT Prep class right now and my practice test scores have been higher than that. I'm actually looking to get around 1350/2100 on the SATs.

Would that make me ineligible? If it does, I mean it sounds kind of stupid to me. I won't be able to apply because I'm a little smarter, even though for NYU that's average which means I won't get much financial aid anyway. I'm still a very low in-come student. :(

Come on anybody?! I know you're out there!

HEOP and C-STEP come under the Oportunities progam. You don't apply to them directly. You apply to NYU and they contact you and refer you to the program if you meet entrance eligibility to the college. You are then contacted by the Opp. Prgm and they interview you for your eligbility to the HEOP program. We are still waiting to hear of our acceptance, etc to the school.

Oh okay I see. Good luck man, what were your SAT scores? Within 1000-1250?
