Yes, but the gap is closing.

@howard19930429: Just because you’re Chinese doesn’t mean you won’t get in. Trust me, there are a lot of Chinese people in Wharton’s Class of 2015, myself being one. So clearly, Wharton doesn’t just accept a few. Even with international Chinese students, there is still at least a dozen. It only comes down with financial aid that there is a really big difference. If you think you fit more as an applicant to Wharton, then apply there. If not, go for CAS. Just because CAS has a slightly higher admission rate doesn’t mean that it is not good or that it’s better for you to apply there. By the way, I really hope the numbers after your name isn’t your actual birthday…

@Powerfuldog: If you really want to go to Wharton, apply ED. You have a much higher chance of getting in Wharton with ED than Stanford/Yale/Princeton with EA. Plus, your stats are really good. I didn’t have any FBLA or other crazy business experience. I just took my AP econ class in hs and did a small internship for a government office; however, Wharton does place a lot of emphasis on leadership.

One last thing to prospective students: Just because you’re Asian doesn’t mean you have a completely different set of standards to admission officers. You don’t have to be insanely awesome; you just need good numbers and be a leader in your community. No prior business experience is needed for Wharton. Also, don’t avoid taking the risk of applying to Wharton (when you think it’s the best fit for you) just because it has a slightly lower admission rate than CAS. If you can’t even take this small risk, how can you manage handling all the other risks and decisions you’ll face later in life and in your future careers?

Please chance me…
