Hi! Thanks for everything you guys are doing Quick question about tests: are the questions on the tests problems that have been assigned for homework/talked over briefly in class, or are they impossible questions that only really really really smart people who have an incredibly deep understanding of the material can solve?

NSO will be the best week of your life.

Well, maybe not. But it is a lot of fun. Definitely go out at nights with your hallmates even if you are not used to partying. As far as official NSO events, donāt miss out on the Art Museum party. Penn rents out the Philadelphia Art Museum for the night for the freshman to eat good food, dance, and check out some amazing artwork. The toga party is also very fun.

@IceCream- Relative to the class and the professor.

Like FightingQuaker said, NSO week is amazingā¦the school spends a ton of money that your parents had to pay for so you better attend everything (you would be stupid not tooā¦)

Although, I checked out the NSO website and I think they are replacing the Art Museum night with IKEA night? If soā¦disappointmentā¦but still, when else would you be able to see a mosh pit at Van Pelt?

@IceCream

It variesā¦on the professor, on who writes the exam, on lots of things. There are problems that are basically homework with different numbers and then problems in which you go *** and cry that you didnāt memorize obscure stuff your prof went over moreā¦

You had me very, very worried TevashSzat, especially since I told my Peer Advisees that Art Museum night was the best. Just checked the NSO website and they WILL have the Art Museum party as well as the IKEA party. Looks like they are stepping it up for 2014ā¦jealous.

Also, Freshman Performing Arts Night is a MUST. Almost all of the campusā performing arts groups, including dance troupes, a cappella, comedy sketches, etc. will EACH perform for a short time.

oh man so jealous of ikea night

I dunno, Ikea has this effect on meā¦ I canāt walk out with just what I wanted to get when I walked inā¦ itās always like three other things that cost a hundred bucks more!

How tough is Math 104? Iām starting out at Wharton next week, and although I got a 5 on AP Calc AB, Iām wondering if 104 is too much to start out with right away. Despite that 5 (last yearās AP test was very curved), I donāt consider myself very talented at math. Should I shoot for 103 this fall instead?

If you have taken Calc AB, you should be in perfect line for MATH104. MATH103 would be unchallenging, and MATH114 would be beyond your capabilities. MATH104 will give you the tools you need to get through your BPUB and FNCE courses (though MATH114 is desirableā¦ itās necessary if youāre a FNCE concentration). Taking 103 would kinda be a waste of a course, to be honest, if you got a 5 on AB.
