I am curious to see what is the ratio of public to private school applicants matriculating to BS. Please feel free to mention your school (to identify any feeder schools) and if you were in any gifted/honors programs. Format can be:

Your Name: Your Screen Name
Name of School: ABC Academy (public or private)
Program: (Regular or Honors or Gifted)
Admitted to: (H A D E S ...)

this is irrelevant, but if you look at deerfield’s class of 2013, it’s as if half their class hails from new canaan/darien… irrelevant in terms of private/public, but interesting in terms of geographic distribution… how strange.

The goal of this post is broader than just the ratio. From the ratio, we can’t identify the feeder schools, if they exist. Also, what fraction of matriculants are in Honors/Gifted programs is good to know. This will give a feel for next year applicants as to what schools they should target based on their backgrounds using this historical data. For example, my parents are willing to move if there are any good feeder schools (Similar to Andover is a feeder to Harvard, Lawrenceville is a feeder to Princeton etc.).

DiveAlive: I am troubled by some of your posts. How do you know half of DA is from New Canaan etc. It’s not a great idea to take wild guesses. We need meaningful, concrete statistics from the actual applicants, so that these results are of significance (no fictional writing on this thread, please…).

To the best of my understanding no boarding schools are ‘feeder’ schools to the ivys anymore. I go to public school but I have no desire to share my approximate address to the public at large!

As you know, posting on CC is your free will. I think this data are very useful for new applicants. It will also clarify if feeders exist, as some think they do, some don’t.

DiveAlive: Never been to FB, not my cup of tea. Information insecurity… Do you know what FB does with your data?

Please refrain from posting irrelavant data on this thread please… I have seen many other threads where that kind of posts seem to be welcome. You know what I mean… don’t you?

I can point you to feeder schools all junior boarding schools and K-8 NYC pre-prep schools
such as Allen-Stevenson, Buckley, St. David’s, St. Bernards and also CO-ED schools like St. Hilda and St. Hughes, and the cathedral school i don’t know if they feed to a certain school like the junior boarding schools do but they do send a lot of kids to boarding schools of a wide range of Tiers and methods of education. Also a lot of kids from western CT like greenwich, new canaan, norwalk, Darien, westport and westchester county NYC suburbs like Bedford, Scrasdale, Chappaqua

I’ve attended public school since I was 3. I’m in a regular program and I haven’t been admitted to any schools yet because I applied late. I should hear something in 3-7 days.

Name: Everencer

Everencer, Most people on CC already posted where they are going on “Master List of 2010 Acceptances” thread. Please check it out, you may find some that are going to your BS.
