@hellodocks Thanks for your reply. Do you think there is any chance that sterns will consider me for transfers . I know my SAT is awful and i won’t blame anyone but me. I just want to be in Investment Banking and at Rutgers there are 0% chances that i will even get an interview. Moreover i want to do accounting/finance double major which is not offered at Rutgers anyway. Do you think I should apply to LSE (London School of Economics) as a freshmen as they don’t offer transfers in the third year. I am ready to forgo 2 years of my college to get a better exposure to financial industry jobs. But if i get into any good US university it will be awesome. Do you Sterns should give more weight to my college GPA which shows that I survived the College and US system of education…And i heard it from my friend that WE HAVE AN OPTION OF NOT LISTING OUR SAT SCORE FOR JUNIOR YEAR TRANSFER (is it for real or just a rumor).Thank you for your reply once again.

SATs are not required for junior transfers. Your GPA is good, so you’d need to have many extracurriculars and interest and an excellent college GPA freshman and sophomore year and then you’ll be viable for transfer.

@sarora thank you for your reply. What is the minimum college GPA required to get into Sterns. I have 3.95 right now and I am hoping to do good this semester too. And i am part of many clubs and organisations but i didn’t list them because I am not on the executive boards (mostly juniors and seniors are in the e-board). Thank you once again.

No min GPA, average is 3.6. Keep it up and you’ll be a good candidate.

How easy is it for CAS students to buisness minor in a stern area?

Is there a selection process based on grades and scores, or is it completely open?

How about for Studio art and music production minors?

And yes, another chance me question. My SAT1 scores are 740M 710W and 680CR, SATII is 790Phys 760MIIC and 660Lit. IB diploma predicted score 42/45 with a level 6 in Higher Level Math. IGCSE grades of 6A*, 3A, and 1B.

How do I look for stern and cas chances? Are essays important for stern?

Hey, current sophomore here. I posted in this thread a few months ago about my low GPA. I’m doing better this semester, but I have a question about summer internships. I’m currently still sitting on a 3.15 and since I’m going abroad next semester, people have been telling me that I need to start looking for a summer internship now. I wish I could wait 'til the end of this semester where my GPA will be at least in the 3.3-3.35 range.

Should I really be trying hard to secure a summer internship before I go abroad? Is it possible to get a job in the US while I’m in Prague? I’d appreciate any insight/knowledge you have, thanks!

Hi, I just wanted to know about early graduation. Assuming I max out my course load, do you think that it’s possible to graduate in 3 years? Or will I have to attend summer school to achieve that?

I’m thinking of early graduation because I might want to pursue a MFin after that. Thanks!

You need to reach 128 credits to graduate, or 16 credits every semester. It doesn’t matter if you have your major completed by then or not.

I’d say that you need at least 16 credits from APs/elsewhere in order to graduate early. Coming in with 16 credits means you need an average of 17/18 credits per semester. That’s doable. Knock out 32 credits (max) and you’ll only need to 16 a semester.

It’s possible!

hi… i just wanted to know what type of grades you need to get in? on the sat and high school gpa out of 100? thanks

Hi, I already applied to stern for ED1. I am an international student (living in the States though), and I don’t need FA. Could you take a brief moment to chance me…
GPA : 3.78 UW, 3.84 W, top 27%, 30 act ( 29 eng, 35 math), 800 math 2c
held many president positions in school clubs, strong recommendation from chinese teacher, won some state, county foreign language competition, and good essay( I really emphasized that I want to take actuarial science course offered by stern… spent lots of time research)
do you think I have a decent chance… I rlly want to get in… THanks for your help!

What classes did you take in high school? Is it better to take an AP class or a business class such as accounting? What about an AP science class or a business class? Which would be better on my transcript? I honestly hate science and I don’t know if it’ll harm me if I don’t take 4 years of science (I’m a junior right now).

(Sorry for my ignorance), but if you’re an undergraduate at Stern, are you automatically accepted into their MBA program or do you need certain grades? Would it be better to go to another college as an undergraduate, then try to get into Stern’s MBA program or stick with Stern for your undergraduate studies as well? Stern’s kind of expensive so I don’t know if it’s worth it or not.

I think I either want to be an entrepreneur or do something related with the entertainment industry. Is Stern better for one or good for both? Is there a good possibility that I could get an internship with an entertainment company?

This is kind of random, but how bad will your vision get at Stern?

@hi123182: No you’re not automatically accepted into their MBA program, you’ll have to apply just like everyone else. Though I believe that if your Stern professors wrote raving testimonials for your application, that would be a plus.

Stern has a minor in Business in Entertainment, Media, and Technology (BEMT). So I’d say that you’ll be in good hands if you want to break into the entertainment industry because firstly, NYC is a entertainment hub, and secondly, Stern offers you exposure to classes about entertainment specifically.

Like what hellodocks have said countless times, it’s a cost-benefit analysis. It’s up to you whether you want to enroll at Stern or not, so you have to weigh pros and cons (which have been reiterated on this thread).

what would be the average SAT score? (not the range of scores for 25%-75%, but just average score).

I’d say somewhere around 1450/1600, and anything above 2100 should be alright. I scored a 1480/2220 and got in. Most of my friends scored in the same range as well.

Hey hellodocks,

I’m a current freshman and was wondering if you knew anything about the joint minor between Wagner and Stern. Do you know if its very popular? Is it difficult or tedious? Is it more likely to boost my GPA or sink it? How do recruiters view this minor (is it better to pick a random minor that makes me "look"more interesting?)

Thanks so much in advance

Just wondering in Stern, can you take 3 majors? Say like Accounting, Finance, and International Business co-major? Thanks!!

@icebell: It’s called concentrations at Stern. You may take up to 3.

If anyone is trying to figure out what Stern/Liberal Core classes they should take, I am starting to put a list together:
