@hotelcornell Hans Bethe is great. I lived there for two years. I did not have a communal bathroom, but they are generally okay. There are 3 bathrooms on each floor and generally the bathrooms are separated for girls/boys. I would say you will be sharing it with 5-8 max. The bathroom all the way at the end of a floor does not seem to be used by many hint ;)

Whats your experience with gays in fraternities? I’ve seen on people’s “fraternity ranking” threads that there are a couple frats that appear to be stereotypically gay but in general are gays sometimes accepted (if they act pretty “normal” and can keep up with frat life), or perhaps in a few specific frats?

Can you change your major late in the game (Junior/ Senior year) and even across schools? What would that entail?

Within Cornell, I mean.

Colene, are you asking this question? =O I thought you were an expert ;)

I know a lot about some things but less about others regarding cornell =/… I’m not going to pretend that I am sure of something that I am not.
And no I’m far from an expert… it’s just that I know a little more than most high schoolers and trolls about what they’re talking about in this admissions-obsessed/ inflammatory/■■■■■ infested part of CC because I also had the guidance of more experienced CCers before

To answer your question, I would say it would be possible to change schools until the end of sophomore year…anything later would risk not graduating on time. CAS requires fours semesters as a CAS student and other colleges don’t look favorably upon transferring during junior/senior year. It honestly depends on how specialized the program is and how much coursework you have already taken. However, I can imagine it being too late to transfer to engineering if you don’t decide by the beginning of sophomore year. If you are willing to spend more than 4 years then I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to change/add a major during your senior year. Changing colleges requires an internal transfer application, letters of rec (for CAS), etc. Changing majors within a college is very simple (at least for CALS) if you are not applying to a super competitive major. For example, for AEM, you have to have complete certain courses, fill out an application with an essay question, and then they can still reject you vs. food sciences- you just have to go talk to an advisor and tell them that you are interested. I am a CALS student so I know a lot about changing majors within CALS.

Which college will you be attending and which one are you/might be interested in?

I’m pretty certain my friend applied to the Econ major within the last 2 weeks of his last semester (He had obviously declared his first major within the CAS timeline of 2nd semester of sophomore year). I think it’ll really depend on your circumstances, college, and what sort of change you are looking to make. If you are going for a radical change, anything after sophomore year has a high probability of the 5-6 year plan.

Thanks to the responders! I don’t really have a particular major/ college in mind, but I just wanted to see if I have that option.

Yup, college is all about options it’s never too late, but just expect to graduate later if things don’t sort themselves out until later!
