hello,i wanna know sth about student exchange programme.
I know there are programmes like Middlebury and Bowdoin's students coming to AU, so can AU's students come to study in Middlebury?
And do AU has exchange programme with the schools in DC?
Thx!

How big a presence is Greek life on campus? If a student is not involved, does their social life suffer signficantly?

Greek Life here depends on your pre-conceived notion of Greek Life and, if any, experience with Greek Life while in high school (if there was a university in your home town)

Is it possible to get into an Ivy League law school from American? Is getting an internship as a freshman easy?

^^^ About 2-3 go to Harvard per year. Sometimes less. Its very difficult but you can take a lot of cake courses here to fatten up your GPA. Then its just a matter of how well you do on the LSAT.

How many would you guess normally try to get into Ivy League law schools from American? Does American somehow reflect badly on this, or is it just because there is so much competition?

MCZ, AU's Office of Institutional Research collects information about graduate schools via surveys. They probably can give you an idea of how many students are attending different graduate schools. Drop an e-mail to oira@american.edu. Then you'll have facts, not speculation.

It really comes down to LSAT scores. Keep in mind a 3.5 GPA from AU does not really compare with a 3.5 GPA from an Ivy League school, atleast rankings wise. I'm sure many will disagree. I believe you have to have an exceptional GPA 3.8+ and a great LSAT to compete for the Ivy League law schools. Take it or leave it.

I am with md on this one. It is not hard to maintain 3.5 GPA at AU, so you should work your butt off to truly distinguish yourself from others.

I am a student at American and considering law school as well.

Get 3.8+ GPA and kick ass on the LSAT. It all comes down to that.

Mcz~ Yes, If You Put In The Effort, Au's Career Center Is A Great Help. And As More And More People Are Finding Out....hard Work Is Key To What You Want. You Can Be A Good Lawyer Based On What You Put Into It! No Matter Where Your Undergrad Is.

mcz~ my whole post didn't go thru... i meant if you put in the effort on finding an internship, it wouldn't be too hard. and just another thought...why ivy, necessarily for law school? good if you can but your work experience and drive will count for more.
