<p>Hey everyone!
I applied to Creighton (my top choice) and I will learn of their decision in about 2 weeks (torture).</p>
<p>I live in Omaha and was wondering if any of you guys are from Omaha. What's the transition like? Did you ever feel like you should have gone further away? Did you bring a car to campus? How was the relationship between your family different?</p>
<p>As for me, I love Creighton (I will be devastated if I don't get in). It's not too big, not too small. It's near the Old Market (my favorite part of town) and I love the new soccer stadium (soccer=love). Plus, the general atmosphere and the proximity of the campus to my parish (St. Cecilia's) is a plus.</p>
<p>Another question: How are the dorms? I only went through one (the all girls dorm), but I was wondering what the other freshmen dorms are like.</p>
<p>Kiewit and Gallager are the two other designated freshmen dorms, both of which are coed. The floor plans for all of the freshman dorms (kiewit, gallager, deglman) are very similar. There is also some freshman overflow into the the sophomore dorm Swanson Hall (which have much nicer suite style dorms).</p>
<p>Hey, is it true that the swimming pool is shut down? Permanently? If so, that is such a bummer!</p>
<p>yeah, the pool did shut down indefinitely, not permanently because it needed to be repaired and would have cost a bunch of money (like $100,000 +). Creighton will likely repair it as soon as the economy gets better and stabilizes. The university doesn't have money to spend freely right now on stuff like a pool.</p>

<p>I have a non-Creighton-specific question... as a student with a pre-med/bio focus, do you have a laptop, and if so, is it a mac or a pc? Do you have any recommendations as far as choosing a laptop? I ask because I'm intending to major in pre-med also, and I'm wondering which is better for students with this focus. Thanks! : )</p>
<p>Yes, I do have a laptop. I would highly recommend a laptop over a desktop. Virtually everyone I know has a laptop. Mac or PC, it doesn't matter. Personally, I have a mac. The number of students that have a mac is comparable to the number of students with a PC. For premeds (and virtually every college student), the type of computer (mac or pc) you get isn't that important, just make sure it's up to date with the latest software and operating systems.</p>

They sent me a text message (I totally forgot that I checked that box in the app).</p>

But I'm 99.9% sure that I'm going to Creighton!</p>
<p>Congrats Red! I Just got accepted a couple of weeks ago and I'm still excited about Creighton. They will send you the acceptance packet in the mail soon. If you received any magis, or ignation scholarship awards they will tell you in the packet too :) </p>
<p>A Creighton counselor I have been talking through email told me that we should be getting our financial packets during March</p>

<p>I know of many people that are planning on study abroad their sophomore or junior years. Creighton does have an excellent study abroad program and many students take advantage of it. I think studying abroad is great and I would love to do it, but I will likely not. If I were a humanities major, I would definitely do it; however, being premed it doesn't seem studying abroad would be advantageous to getting into med school.</p>
<p>Looking at the core, am I correct that a student must take 6 semesters of religion/theology classes? What kinds of classes are these?</p>
<p>What do you think of the core? My fear is that with such heavy core requirements, someone who is undecided on a major might not have enough room to explore. Or is there more flexibility in the core than I am seeing?</p>

students are required to take 6 CREDITS of religion/theology classes, not 6 semesters. 6 Credits is only equal to 2 semesters. Thus, the core requires each student to take 2 semesters of religion/theology classes. I generally like the core. Being a math/science person my self, I don't fully enjoy the classes as well as others; however, they are good to take anyway because you learn a lot from them. Undecided majors are fine; liberal arts schools have heavier core requirements than Creighton.</p>
<p>So I got a Founder's award!
But when I got that packet, there weren't any other scholarships.
Is that it for me or could I possibly get another scholarship?</p>

<p>Pccool52 I was happy to read your reply about the core, but when I looked at the website again it showed 18 credits of religion/theology classes required by the College of Liberal Arts. Are you in the businees school? Because I read that has lesser core requirements.Or am I looking at outdated info? Thanks for your help!</p>
