Current students: Accuracy of BU's net price calculator

I just ran BU’s net price calculator, which predicts that if accepted, I’d receive a 40K scholarship (free money only, excluding loans).

I am extremely doubtful about this because BU has so many students and because I heard BU can be very stingy with aid.
However, the numbers I plugged in are all accurate and my family’s financial situation does not have complications that would make the npc unreliable.

Some basic info: 60k-70k total family income, no assets, 3.80 UW GPA, 2300 SAT, most rigourous course load, decent ECs.

Essentially, my question is: If any of you are current students, what was your experience with the npc for BU? Was it accurate when you got your actual FA package?

I am an alum, not a current student but with your stats you would definitely get significant merit aid and with you family income need based grants on top of that. You may want to apply for the Trustees scholarship because even with $40,000 in scholarships/grants you will still have to pay $22,000 year if you live on campus.

TomSrofBoston, thank you for your response and advice. I’ll just hope for the best!
