current students on financial aid

Do your loans, work-study, student summer income contribution generally increase each year, and if so by how much??

Also, I couldn't seem to find any info on it, but is there a loan-cap that Gtown institutes that limits the total amount of student loans one can have?

Thanks

I know there is a loan cap. I think it's like $3,500 freshmen year. And then goes up $1000-500 each year.

What about reapplying for finaid every year? Do they generally stay consistent in the amount of scholarship/ aid they give you from freshman yr? Specifically, I wanted to ask about the need based scholarships. I received a 41000 GU NHS Scholarship...Will this most probably renew soph, jr, and sr yrs as well?

i know their need based scholarships are not renewable..they will change and be altered according to your financial situation every year. I do know that they expect you to contribute a little each year from your own income...but it's not much it goes up by 500 or so i believe.

So in short it won't change significantly if your families' finances don't change much. If your families' income said steady I would IMAGINE your scholarship would go from 41,000 fr to 36,000 your senior year. That's just a guess, but it will probably go down a little each year.

That's definitely not a terrible decrease, I could live with it considering I'll probably be living at my own house near GU jr and sr years. (Btw, about that estimate of 36000...will it be reduced if I live at my own house?) Thanks :)

If you live in your own house (family's home)? Yes. They aren't going to pay for you to live in your own house. I think they would cut 100% of the room and board out of your aid. I'm not positive though. If you live on a house off-campus that you pay for (ie rent) then I'm not sure.

thanks. sooo as a senior the most you could end up with in loans (senior yr) is about 6000? or will they also increase your work study too?

also is this standard among colleges? to decrase aid gradually throughout your years?

it is standard to decrease aid throughout four years..because you are gradually expected to be able to work more. and its hard to say an exact number as 6000?
