Ok, here's where I stand on housing right now:

I'm leaning toward Birnkrant because of its proximity to just about everything and the fact that it's a residential college and all that good stuff.

But, I think I might be interested in the Deans' Halls. I've read all about how they're not really social or anything, but if any people who live there could tell me about how it really is, that'd be great.

Also, anyone know anything about Fluor Tower and the Rad? The whole suite system seems kind of interesting to me, so I'd like to hear from someone who's had experience with that, and can talk about the pros and cons. And also, I was wondering whether living at the Rad enables you to still get that freshman dorm experience of community that you hear so much about.

Finally, I might be considering Parkside Suites also. Is the food really better? Is it worth the distant location? Is it that far from Annenberg?

Thanks!

P.S. I'm still trying to decide between USC and Northwestern for journalism, so I'm just curious as to why you guys chose USC.

Radisson is not suites. It's standard hotel rooms that have dorm furniture and a whole lot of space. But I know people there who love it. It's definitely a social scene there (not as big as New/North, but probably equivalent to Birnkrant/Pardee).

Parkside Suites is not too far from most places. I can walk from Parkside to Annenberg in about 7-8 minutes. As for the food, many people say it is better than EVK. But my friends and I have gotten very VERY tired of it (they don't change the selection!!) and I'm looking forward so much to getting off the damn meal plan in a month :). BTW, Parkside residents are not allowed to have the Trojan meal plan, which is the all-dining dollars plan, so that should explain our misery.

I like Dean's halls, they're actually more social than I expected them to be. Most people leave their doors open when they're home. I didn't really click with most of the girls in my hall, but that's a chance you take with any housing. I have friends all over campus, but we don't usually hang out in dorms. I've seen Parkside, I'd say it's worth the extra walk.

Whoa! I didn't know that!

Well, I highly recommend Deans' Halls. I live here currently (Marks Hall), and I'll probably be back next year. Personally, I actually like EVK a lot. For breakfast and lunch, I definitely prefer it over Parkside. It has enough selection that you don't have to get the food you don't like.

Are the Mark's Hall/Trojan's Hall ONLY for the honors students?

^ No. Though there will be a lot of honors students living there, it's not just for them.

are you allowed to change housing maybe into mark/trojan if u didn't choose them...(like let's say at orientation)

You can, but not until a certain date (usually in September). And all changes are based on availability.

I think if the deadline hasn't passed yet to apply for housing for you guys, you might be able to call the housing office and get your preference changed.
