CURRENT STUDENTS wash u?

I'm deciding between wash u and a state school (uiuc). I've heard that the students at wash u are quite centered around their academics and that's their number one priority. I've also heard that there's little ethnic diversity. Are any of these rumors true????

What? Where did you hear that?

i've heard from several washu students that the general attitude is "work hard, play hard"

from my overnight experiences at washu, that seems to be true.

We work hard, and we play harder. There hasn't been a weekend (or many Thursdays this semester) when I haven't partied, gone to a club, chilled and watched sports, or something along those lines. This Friday, some kids on my floor organized a floor barbeque and party afterwards, and last night I went out to Spyglass (one of the bars/clubs nearby). Club events (with bussing from the campus to the club) usually take place on Thursdays, but this was on a weekend due to the Thurtene carnival. There isn't as much ethnic diversity as going to a state school, but there is diversity.

yeah i agree with all of this. today is a sunday night, and everyone i know (ok not eveyone, but most everyone) will be going out, getting drunk, and celebrating post-thurtene in a few hours. while academics are definitely our number one priority (i mean.. we're here for a reason... right?), most everyone here recognizes that it is very possible to have an amazing time while excelling academically.
