I thought only the trojan was the mascot or something.. Oh well.

they say Tommy is actually the symbol of our school. same difference pretty much, but whatever...

Traveler the horse is the official mascot of USC.

Tommy Trojan is just a symbol, like beammeup said.

Thanks for the info. Never realized there was a white horse associated with USC--great info! Sounds very inspirational.

"Sounds very inspirational"

lol

When I was taking a tour at USC, the guide was telling us that nobody ever realizes that "Traveler" is the actual mascot. Most people don't even know the horses name!

Still, having a white horse galloping around the field after every touchdown would be nice, if it's supporting YOUR team. A horse of trojan is inspirational than the "fighting ducks," which was my mascot when I went to U of OR. We couldn't all agree on whether it should look like Donald Duck or something a bit more fierce--in the 70s. I believe the debate still rages. LOL

Not only do we have a white horse that gallops across the field after every touchdown, but how often do you see the squad leader (not sure about the correct name for it) of a marching band fully clad in armor wielding a sword instead of a lame baton. Now I think that's awesome!

He's called the drum major....and yeah, I agree it looks cool!!!

this is a question for any thornton students...do you know when music theory and aural skills placement tests can be taken for incoming freshman? in the information packet, it lists details about math, science, and langauge placement tests, but nothing about music. on a side note, when did everyone hear about which studio they were placed in? thanks so much

"when did everyone hear about which studio they were places in?"

what do you mean by studio?

music majors get placed with a specific teacher that they study with for all four years, and all of the students of that teacher comprise a studio...lol gotta love musicians

Yeah, I'm a music major as well. I think you're referring to private lessons? I've never heard to it referred as a studio. Maybe it's different for your instrument.

Are there any current Viterbi or Marshall students on this board?

Yeah... Viterbi

Can any Thornton students answer the following - Can a music student give music lessons to non-majors, or are there other money-making opportunities for music students to help with costs? Do the faculty help you find internships, and job placements? And one more - are the private lessons ( for composition )something you have to pay for in addition to tuition?

I can answer one of your question Kira_mom.

Private lessons do in fact cost extra. I think it might depend on what instrument, but for me, it would cost $1300 extra per semester.

how are people at USC? Based on studentsreview.com, most of the students are:

friendly, but below that still exists the close-mindedness, snobbishness, and arrrogance. is this quite true?

i did a summer program through USC and i was wondering how much that would help me when i apply to USC

kvester, I would agree that most students are friendly. Are there students that are close-minded, snobbish, and arrogant? Yes. Are they in the majority? Definitely not. It's easy to find people that you'll like who are open-minded, not snobby, and not arrogant.

How big is the campus? I thought it was quite big until I compared it with the instate university campus that i got in @ Oklahoma... RIght now i'm guessing its pretty small (I wish it was bigger.. ;_;)
