I think all the freshman housing has twin XL beds, including the Radisson as of this year if I remember correctly.

If your child received any merit aid from the school s/he is attending at USC, s/he may lose it when transferring to another school. If the merit money is from USC in general then the money should remain the same. It's best to speak with the current school & the school s/he plans to transfer to so everyone is clear about financial consequences.

If I major in Biochemistry, I'm not allowed to double major in Chemistry or Biology right?

If I could, I only need like 3 more classes. :)

The best source is the USC counselors rather than any of us. I'd definitely explore this if it's something that you'd like to have, especially since it looks like you're almost there by your calculations anyway.

Actually, there are very few restrictions on what two majors you cannot double together. I don't think any of those 3 have restrictions.

BUT you need to comply with the requirement that a minimum # of units be unique for each major.

So, you would probably need to take something like 32 units for each major seperately. Since they are so closely related you would have to take more electives in bio and chem departments even though you have technically satisfied all the explicit course requirements.

I'm in bio and chem...each of the classes comes with a lab/quiz or both...are those weekly, or once in a while?

Oh, and anyone have any input on Prof. Bakus? He has such terrible ratings on senatecourseguide...is he really that bad?

Lab is traditionally once per week, with sometimes no meeting first and last weeks.

Quiz usually meets only for midterms and in-class(i.e., proctored) quizzes so you might go only 2-4 times max per semester. Also sometimes professors elect to give in-lecture midterms and quizzes instead of the quiz section; in that case you never go to the quiz section.

The purpose of the quiz section is for a couple of reasons - so you don't miss one class section taking a test, so multiple sections of the same class take the exact same exam, and also possibly to give more time than is alloted in the regular lecture.

Is there any chance that this info is online? I'm checking out the requirements for Bio, and it doesn't say anything about unique courses and such.

it's a little complicated. Basically, the idea is to make sure that you can't get a double major by just taking 2 or 3 more classes than your current major requires.

Darn. That means I can't take the easy way out. :(

Neuroscience works for me, so that's cool. Thanks!

I have a couple questions:

1) if I took math for business & economics at my current school, IF i transfer to USC... would I be able to take math118x right away (pre-requisite is math for business & economics) ? or would I NEED to take the placement exam?

2) is starting leventhal or marshall at the start of junior year way too late? would I have to stay an extra semester or two after my expected graduation date?

Do any of you Business majors know anything about the "Marshall Curve" at USC? Is it really that hard to get an A in any of the business classes? And how are the business professors at Marshall in terms of quality and difficulty? Thank You

Has anyone seen the climbing wall at Lyon Center? Can you tell me about the size of it?

For5aken:

You are Neuroscience, too? I am transferring in as a sophmore into neuroscience. Looks to be a very interesting program. That's all.

The climbing wall is more of a bouldering wall. There are some interesting routes layed out, and it can be very difficult, but it isn't very high.

RacerT514: I'm Biochem actually, but I'm considering Neuroscience as a double major. Hopefully classes aren't that difficult.

One question: when does the bill come?

The bill must be paid, for the semester, in full, unless you choose the payment plan on the Friday before classes start. I'd say it should show up on OASIS by the end of the month.

Yeah, for the payment plan, the info on it is supposed to be available from July 1 & it costs $65 one-time fee annually to sign up. It will automatically deduct from your checking account or charge your credit card monthly. We're planning to go with this plan & charge it to our credit card to get points so we can get some free flights.
