Are the bedsheets provided by URSC worth it? (Are they more/less expensive than bedsheets you can buy at other stores like Target).

The main + with the package is convenience--they provide you with a package & you don't go shopping around for he individual pieces. One thing about the package is that the sheets are polyester/cotton rather than 100% cotton. Our S is sensitive & his skin greatly prefers the 100% cotton, so we have purchased it for him & will be bringing his sheets with him. The sets were $15 apiece on amazon.com (bottom, top & 2 pillowcases). You can find bedding that is less expensive & of course more expensive.
I understanding there is a lot of reasonably-priced bedding to choose among in LA & we plan to buy the rest at Target or similar stores in LA instead of flying it from HI to LA.
My friend's son bought the package, including the special USC comforter that he still enjoys, one year after he graduated from USC.

How hard is it to make an A in both bio and chem your freshman year at SC?

Quite hard...

Is there a website where the students rate the professors at USC? Now that we've registered it would be nice to learn something about the profs.

senatecourseguide.com

if you have USC Email (which you should by now...), when you log into myUSC, on the main page with all the links, there should be a yellow link called "Course Evaluations." the only thing is the evaluations tend to be a few semesters old and professors come and go, so that's the major downside.

these are less accurate and along the same line, have far less reviews, but tend to be more current and allow students to post comments to see exactly why they thought this or that about a professor. theres http://www.senatecourseguide.com/ if you have myspace, you can use Grade My Professor.

take senatecourseguide.com with a grain (or three) of salt. People tend to be biased based on what (good or bad) grade they got.

that said, I always look at it before registering :) But don't assume it's anything at all accurate.

I posted this in another thread but didn't get many responses.

I'm a prospective USC incoming transfer and am coming in with Econ but really want to go Accounting.

How hard would this process be of going from Econ and changing my major to Accounting? Would I first need to be accepted into Marshall and then have to be accepted into Leventhal?

My grades aren't stupendous which is why I'm coming in with Econ first (as one of my peers suggested I do). I still haven't even been admitted to USC but any advice/info would really help.

Also, at this point, is it too late to apply for on-campus housing for this coming Fall 2006 school year? Is it too late to apply for parking?

I don't live far from campus so would you guys suggest I commute from home (about 15 min drive away) or live on campus? I'm hoping for a lot of financial aid but it'll most likely consist of huge loans.

can anyone tell me whether its possible to get a good scholarship as an incoming international transfer...I will be at a US university though...

What criteria's are generally like required to atlest be in the running for a schol.....I'll transfer as a junior

where are you Trojans???

All I could find, and it's past the deadline (if you're transferring next year, it's probably the same info though, with different dates)

Transfer Merit

Amount: Varies

Number of Awards: Varies

Selection Criteria: For entering transfer students only. Selected based on grade point average in transferable courses and rigor of course selection. Last year's recipients had an average GPA above 3.7 and had more than 30 transferable units completed at the time their application was submitted.

Application Process: Submit completed 2006 Undergraduate Application with required materials and transcripts showing fall 2005 grades by February 1, 2006.

Notification: June 1, 2006

I know USC doesn't care about international vs. not for undergraduate scholarships, but I'm not sure about transfer (I would assume not, but contact someone at USC if you want to know for sure)

My mails aren't getting here properly so I'm afraid I'm going to miss something important to pay...

Does all the bill show up on oasis? (medical, tuition, etc) Is that all I need to pay (when it does show up anyhow) to the school (except for books??)

Also how do you deal with loans? Do you have to turn in a form to get perkins/stafford loans?

Can somebody also explain the payment plan to me? Is it just dividing the tuition into monthly fees???

I'm so confused and nobody's here to help me... I wish the mail would get here properly but i'm out of the country so it gets here... super slow (or not at all >.<)

Is there any other fee related issues i'm missing here also?

I'm not familiar with loans, but I do know that OASIS will display all charges that must be paid to USC. Clicking the ePay link will even give you a digital version of the yellow paper statements they send in the mail. You can even use the page to pay with a credit card.

Yes, the payment plan divides the tuition into monthly fees, which are usually automatically deducted from a bank account or charged to a credit card. You have to turn in an application form (can be found on the financial aid website) and pay a small fee. You must reapply for it each year. I think, but am not 100% sure, that you can add things like housing (if you're on campus), meal plan, parking, etc. onto the monthly plan as well. Hope this helped.

Thanks Misoobishi. Actually i got that data, but i will as you suggested, contact USC officials regarding that.

oh one thing more....is there any specific person who i can contact at USC who can check whether the courses i am taking will be transferrable in future??

Talk to Dr. Werner at the articulation office: (213) 740-4628
http://www.usc.edu/dept/ARR/articulation/generalinfo.html/

Thanks for the info

When does all the fees (tuition medical parking housing etc etc)you have to pay show up on oasis anyhow?

Also once again, does anybody know anything about loans still..? What forms am I suppose to turn into get stafford/perkins or do I have to do anything at all??

http://www.usc.edu/dept/finserv/sfs/index.htm is the website for Student Financial Services at USC. If you prefer toll-free outside CA, you can call ( 800 ) 225 - 1222, which will give you the general number for TIPS, but you CAN negotiate through the menus & speak to a live person at the Student Financial Services Office, if you're VERY patient. If you're in Southern CA, you can call ( 213 ) 740 - 7471.

They should be able to answer your questions. At the Orientation, they gave us a form to calculate how much our total expenses at USC would be & how to calculate how much to pay each month for each semester (5 payments from 8/1-12/1 for winter & 1/1 to 5/1 for spring.

Here's a page with lots more info about the payment plan, which is $65/year & allows you to make up to 2 changes/year at no additional charge. We filled out most of the form on-line, printed it out & faxed it to the office indicated on the form. I later called to confirm that they had received the form & we are signed up for the payment plan. We're charging the monthly amount on our credit card & paying it off each month so we don't have any finance or late fee & get points/miles toward travel or other benefits. Makes the "sting" of tuition & expenses a bit less painful.

Good luck!
