Current tufts students

Uh hem- I’m the one who asked about roommates moving in early. On another forum here on CC there is a long thread about the rights of students who arrive first at dorm rooms. You’d be amazed (well, I was) at how many parents think it’s ok to do whatever they want. I posted about it here to get a sense of how Tufts people feel and as usual, they were full of common sense (well, mostly). I’ve never lived in dorms so what do I know? That’s why I ask dumb questions. Our plan is to stay out of it and let the roommates work it out- it’s not our dorm room, after all- it’s theirs.

As for being unsure and anxious- heck, I feel that way too. I imagine many parents do. Tufts was picked based on: gut instinct; one very short visit to the east coast; affordability (barely); reputation; the kinds of people met on this and other forums; and comparing it to other schools where D was admitted. Do we still have some doubts? yes. Is there anxiety and wishing we could be 100% sure? Absolutely. I imagine this is the case of many, many students about to leave home and many, many parents about to send their kids to college. Deep breaths everyone. Hopefully by the first week of September, we’ll all feel more sure of our decisions- in fact, I’m 99% sure of it :). Thanks to Snarf and Neethus1 and skateboarder and hebrewhammer and lightbearer, and everyone else, for all of your input these last few months, for this anxious parent to read and enjoy and ponder.
