I'm a current Regents and Alumni Scholar at UCLA. I also had a full ride to Cal and was an academic recruit to Cornell.

I'm back on this board after a long hiatus to answer any questions and will attempt to demystify the process for choosing the best schools.

A little bit about why I chose UCLA ... As I noted, I was accepted to Cornell. It was a dream come true and I was on my way. I was personally recruited by one of the dean of admissions when he called me and told me that they would like me to "join them" for the fall.

I also attended the Chancellor's Reception at Cal after being accepted. Two of my closest friends who were planning on attending Cal lobbied me hard to matriculate with them. We even rolled down 4.0 Hill together.

But this all changed when I first set foot on UCLA's campus. I'm not sure what it was, but I just new I had to go to UCLA. It was the best decision I have ever made. I'm quite logical and not prone to make decisions based on unexplainable emotions, but I'm incredibly glad I followed my heart.

My friends on the other hand hate Cal (Not joking) and wish they had attend UCLA with me. UCLA is like an academic Disneyland. The sun is always shining. I'm surround by incredibly attractive people who are also quite intelligent. Furthermore, UCLA, what with its sculpture garden, safety, and cleanliness is a joy for students.

Finally, in order to make my decision between Cal and UCLA, I took an informal poll of four friends. Two of them attended Cal and the other two UCLA undergrad and UCLA Law.

The consensus between my Cal friends was, "yeah ... I kinda like my Cal experience." My UCLA friends on the other hand raved about UCLA. One said, "I wish I was there right now." The other said, "I still dream of it at night."

I am intimately well-versed on the transfer process and not just UCLA academics, so please feel free to ask me anything and I will do my best to answer questions.

I applied to UCLA as a comm major, it is absolutely my first choice. I had one semester at Santa Barbara CC back in 2004, leaving with a disappointing 3.0, however, upon returning to school in 2010 at Santa Monica College I have maintained a 4.0 ever since, combined I am at a 3.87. I know that the comm major is incredibly impacted and difficult to get into. I have finished all the prerequisites, even the ones not offered at SMC and will be done with my last class for IGETC this semester. Do I have any chance of getting in?? I would REALLY appreciate your feedback. Thank you in advance!
